The study aims to determine the radioactivity levels of thermal waters which have been used seasonally or permanently in spas for therapeutic intentions. Samples were collected from spas in different regions of Turkey. Some radionuclides (K, Th, Ra, Cs), gross alpha (GA) and gross beta (GB) activities, and physical and some chemical parameters were measured. Gamma radiation measurements for Ra, Th and K radionuclides were performed by using a high purity germanium (HPGe) detector. The results of the gamma spectrometry ranged from 1.385 to 11.025 Bql for Ra,

Earthquakes have a significant impact on groundwater environments as well as human life. However, identifying active and affected zones from seismic events using isotopic and microbial diversity indicators remains a challenging frontier. To validate the applicability of this coupled method for real-time analysis, we analyzed thoron (Rn), radon (Rn), microbial community compositions, and hydrochemistry in groundwater samples during the 2017 Pohang earthquake for the first time.

Due to the need to achieve the principles of sustainable development and to understand the processes of formation of phytocenoses in areas that were adversely affected by the industrial impact, this study assessed the condition of the Grachevsky uranium mine (Kazakhstan), which underwent conservation procedures about 25 years ago. The purpose is to determine the level of water quality and phytocenosis of the shores of the reservoir accumulating natural effluents from reclaimed dumps and anthropogenic sites of a uranium mine, as well as quality indicators and toxicology. The assessment included a qualitative research method (analysis of documents) to determine agro-climatic conditions and empirical methods of collecting information.

Seawater intrusion has been a globally significant environmental issue. This paper comprehensively reviews and highlights the research methods of seawater intrusion in China, recommending the potential application of novel radioactive radium-radon isotopes. Geochemical and geophysical techniques have been extensively utilized in studying seawater intrusion in China, including methods such as hydrochemical analysis, groundwater level observations, geophysical survey techniques, and isotope tracing.

Thermal waters in Topusko (Croatia), with temperatures of up to 65 °C, have been used for heating, health, and recreational tourism for the past fifty years. Hydrogeochemical monitoring can provide insights into deeper geological processes and indicate system changes from baseline levels. It helps to identify potential anthropogenic impacts, as well as natural changes.

Hydrogeological, hydrochemical and isotopic traits of the groundwater in the Quaternary aquifer system in an urban-periurban locality within and encircling the Kolkata-Howrah twin city in the south Bengal Basin have been synthesised to explain the present- and paleo-hydrological processes, surface and groundwater interaction and mixing dynamics of contamination of groundwater. Rock-weathering, evaporation, ion-exchange and active mineral dissolution are the key processes commanding the groundwater chemistry. Freshwater flushing from the recharge zones had thinned the entrapped sea water which has generated the present-day brackish water by a non-uniform fusion.
