Aim: This study aimed to investigate the values of preoperative serum levels of white blood cell, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, IL-6, TNF-α and serum amyloid A for diagnosis of chronic osteomyelitis (COM) in Chinese patients.
Methods: All 586 eligible patients were included for analysis.
Results: Outcomes revealed that positive ratios of TNF-α, ESR and IL-6 lied in top three. Taken predicted probability and detection cost into consideration, combination of ESR, IL-6 and TNF-α might be the optimal model due to its high predicted probability for COM (91.02%) with an acceptable cost (CN¥161).
Conclusion: Combination of preoperative serum TNF-α, ESR and IL-6 can help a reliable predication of COM.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a relevant cytokine in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) pathogenesis, potentially activating Janus kinases (JAK)-1, -2, and tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2), and thus, three signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT)-1, -3 or - 5 pathways. This pilot study aims to explore differences in phosphorylated (p)STAT3 levels among patients with RA, those not classified as RA (nRA), and healthy donors (HD), providing some clues on the relative contribution of each JAK protein to the downstream of the IL-6-induced STAT3 pathway. Clinical data and blood samples from 80 subjects (41 RA, 14 nRA, and 25 HD) were collected.

Background Given the increasing incidence and severity of knee osteoarthritis (OA), it is crucial to investigate and refine therapeutic approaches. Aim The objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and potential synergistic effects of proprioceptive exercises combined with Mulligan traction straight leg raise (MT-SLR) in treating OA. This includes improving symptoms such as functional mobility, pain reduction, and relevant serological markers, highlighting the potential of this approach to enhance overall patient outcomes.

Objective: To examine the associations of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within interleukin-6 (IL6) and IL-6 receptor (IL6R) as well as several potential SNPs revealed in a genome-wide association study (GWAS) with clinical response to tocilizumab (TCZ) in Chinese rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients.
Methods: A total of 23 SNPs were genotyped in 68 RA patients receiving intravenous TCZ, who were prospectively followed for 6 months to determine the clinical response based on several criteria, including clinical disease activity index (CDAI) low disease activity (LDA) and remission, disease activity score in 28 joint counts - erythrocyte sedimentation rate (DAS28-ESR) LDA and remission, European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) good response and change in DAS28-ESR (ΔDAS28-ESR).
Results: The patients were on average 51.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic rheumatic immune disease characterized by high disability rates, significantly affecting patients' quality of life. BuShen-QiangDu-ZhiLv Decoction (BQZD), developed by the renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner Jiao Shude, has been traditionally used for AS treatment. However, the bioactive components and the precise mechanisms underlying BQZD's therapeutic effects remain largely unexplored.

Purpose: To investigate the clinical characteristics of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) pneumonia (MPP) combined with pulmonary embolism (PE) in children.
Methods: 291 hospitalized pediatric cases with MPP were enrolled from January 2018 to May 2024 and divided into the PE group (141 cases) and non-PE control group (150 cases). Clinical data of both groups were analyzed and compared.
