Introduction: Since the introduction of tracheoesophageal puncture (TEP) and placement of voice prosthesis, this has become the method of choice to achieve speech rehabilitation after total laryngectomy.
Objective: To compare the complications and success in speech rehabilitation of patients undergoing rehabilitation after primary and secondary TEP (TEP1 and TEP2) through a systematic review.
Methods: The literature survey included research in MedLine, Scielo, Lilacs, Cochrane and Websco until June 2016.
Results: The rate of leakage around the prosthesis was higher in TEP1 (22.5 vs. 6.9%, p = 0.03). There were higher rates of wound infection (9.1 vs. 3.9%) and tracheal stenosis (8.5 vs. 4.5%) in the TEP1 group compared to TEP2, however with no statistical significance. The evaluation of speech quality was not possible due to the heterogeneity of the studies.
Conclusion: There is a reduction in the risk of leakage around the prosthesis among TEP2 patients.

The phase 2 CLL2-BZAG trial tested a measurable residual disease (MRD)-guided combination treatment of zanubrutinib, venetoclax and obinutuzumab after an optional bendamustine debulking in patients with relapsed/refractory CLL. In total, 42 patients were enrolled and two patients with ≤2 induction cycles were excluded from the analysis population per protocol. Patients had a median of one prior therapy (range 1-5), 18 patients (45%) had already received a BTK inhibitor (BTKi), seven patients (17.

Background: Transitional-aged youth have a high burden of mental health difficulties in Canada, with Indigenous youth, in particular, experiencing additional circumstances that challenge their well-being. Mobile health (mHealth) approaches hold promise for supporting individuals in areas with less access to services such as Northern Ontario.
Objective: The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the JoyPop app in increasing emotion regulation skills for Indigenous transitional-aged youth (aged 18-25 years) on a waitlist for mental health services when compared with usual practice (UP).

Objectives: Central nervous system complications of acute pancreatitis (AP) can result in cerebral edema (CE). We assessed the risk of serious outcomes and health care features associated with CE in patients hospitalized with AP.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study using the National Inpatient Sample database.

Background And Objectives: Urological complications after kidney transplantation, due to the ureteroneocystostomy, are associated with significant morbidity, prolonged hospital stay and even mortality. Ureteral stents can minimize the number of complications but are not consistently used, as previous studies were retrospective in nature. We aim to prospectively determine the most effective stenting approach.

The quality of Chinese medicinal materials is closely related to the types and contents of their secondary metabolites, while ecological adaptability influences the production of secondary metabolites. Therefore, identifying the relationship between ecological adaptability and secondary metabolites is important for enhancing the quality of Chinese medicinal materials. In this study, we collected 10-year-old Cortex Eucommiae (Eucommia ulmoides, EU) samples from 21 plots in eight provinces which are the primary production areas of EU in central China.
