Objectives: To automatically identify and diagnose bladder outflow obstruction (BOO) and detrusor underactivity (DUA) in male patients with lower urinary tract symptoms through urodynamics exam.
Patients And Methods: We performed a retrospective review of 1949 male patients who underwent a urodynamic study at two institutions. Deep Convolutional Neural Networks scheme combined with a short-time Fourier transform algorithm was trained to perform an accurate diagnosis of BOO and DUA, utilizing five-channel urodynamic data (consisting of uroflowmetry, urine volume, intravesical pressure, abdominal pressure, and detrusor pressure).

Oral manifestations of disseminated histoplasmosis are rare but can present in immunocompromised individuals. We report a case of disseminated Histoplasmosis presenting with presumed oral involvement and pneumonia in a seropositive HIV individual. A 32-year-old male with HIV presented to the emergency department for a two-week history of abdominal pain and a tongue ulcer in the setting of significant weight loss, blood-tinged sputum, and non-adherence with antiretroviral therapy for three years.

Introduction: Current preoperative exam guidelines utilize extensive lab tests, including blood tests and urine analysis, which are crucial for assessing surgical readiness. However, logistical challenges, especially for patients traveling long distances for high-quality medical care, create significant delays and burdens. This study aims to address these challenges by applying a previously developed point-of-care (POC) device system to perform accurate and rapid lab tests.

The detection of ectopic pregnancy (EP) by point-of-care ultrasound has become an integral competency of emergency medicine practice. Clinical algorithms usually include a female of childbearing age, positive urine or serum human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) test, and an ultrasound evaluation to assess the presence or absence of intrauterine pregnancy. This case report illustrates incidental findings observed during focused assessment with sonography in trauma (FAST examination), which initially suggested an intra-ovarian EP.
