The photocatalytic degradation of the model pollutant carbamazepine (CBZ) was investigated under simulated solar irradiation with an N-doped TiO₂-coated Al₂O₃ photocatalytic membrane, using different water types. The photocatalytic membrane combines photocatalysis and membrane filtration in a single step. The impact of each individual constituent such as acidity, alkalinity, dissolved organic matter (DOM), divalent cations (Mg and Ca), and Cl on the degradation of CBZ was examined. CBZ in water was efficiently degraded by an N-doped TiO₂-coated Al₂O₃ membrane. However, elements added to the water, which simulate the constituents of natural water, had an impact on the CBZ degradation. Water alkalinity inhibited CBZ degradation mostly due to increase in pH while radical scavenging by carbonate was more dominant at higher values (>200 mg/L as CaCO₃). A negative effect of Ca addition on photocatalytic degradation was found only in combination with phosphate buffer, probably caused by deposition of CaHPO₄ or CaHPO₄·2H₂O on the catalyst surface. The presence of Cl and Mg ions had no effect on CBZ degradation. DOM significantly inhibited CBZ degradation for all tested background organic compounds. The photocatalytic activity of N-doped TiO₂-coated Al₂O₃ membranes gradually decreased after continuous use; however, it was successfully regenerated by 0.1% HCl chemical cleaning. Nevertheless, dissolution of metals like Al and Ti should be monitored following acid cleaning.

Context: This study systematically investigated the effects of single S-atom vacancy defects and composite defects (vacancy combined with doping) on the properties of MoS using density functional theory. The results revealed that N-doped S-vacancy MoS has the smallest composite defect formation energy, indicating its highest stability. Doping maintained the direct band gap characteristic, with shifts in the valence band top.

In this study, carbon dots doped with silver and nitrogen (Ag,N-CDs) were synthesized and their application in chemiluminescence (CL) was investigated using the potassium ferricyanide/hydrogen peroxide (KFe(CN)/HO) reaction. Theoretical calculations reveal that Ag doping facilitates a lower excitation energy. The experimental conditions influencing the CL reaction were examined and optimized.

Catalytic depolymerization is a favorable option for the valorization of industrial lignin. In this study, a new strategy was demonstrated for the efficient reductive depolymerization of industrial lignin based on a complex solvent of choline chloride-lactic acid (ChCl-LA) DES integrated with ethanol and a C-supported N-doped niobium-based catalyst with industrial lignin as carbon source (NBC@N-LC). It was found that the introduction of ethanol significantly improved the conversion of industrial lignin in ChCl-LA.

In this paper, a novel p-type junctionless field effect transistor (PJLFET) based on a partially depleted silicon-on-insulator (PD-SOI) is proposed and investigated. The novel PJLFET integrates a buried N+-doped layer under the channel to enable the device to be turned off, leading to a special work mechanism and optimized performance. Simulation results show that the proposed PJLFET demonstrates an I/I ratio of more than seven orders of magnitude, with I reaching up to 2.

Organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) severely pollute various environmental water due to their excessive use, and it is extremely urgent to develop novel adsorbents with high adsorption capacities, rapid removal rate and easily recovery for the removal of OPPs. In this study, defect-rich Co/N-doped hierarchically porous carbons (Co/N-DHPCs) were constructed by pyrolyzing acid-etched ZIF-67 precursor. The developed Co/N-DHPCs possessed rich defects, well-developed hierarchical porous structure, high specific surface area and excellent magnetic property, and exhibited large adsorption capacities of 103.
