Abiraterone acetate has established a major role in the treatment paradigm of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer ever since pivotal trials, COU-AA-301 and COU-AA-302, have shown benefit in both the second-line and first-line (post- and pre-chemotherapy) setting, respectively, with improvement in overall survival as well as secondary end points such as prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and radiographic response rates, time to PSA progression, and progression-free survival. There has been a lot of interest and emphasis in the evaluation of patient-related outcomes (PROs) as it relates to quality of life, pain, adverse events, fatigue, and among others, in the use of different agents that have been shown to improve survival. This review examines the companion PROs in conjunction with abiraterone acetate use. This is particularly relevant since PROs are increasingly viewed as a key metric for drug label claims in granting approval across regulatory agencies, including the US Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency.

Background: This study aimed to report the mid-term functional outcomes of total hip arthroplasty (THA) for the treatment of advanced hip involvement in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and identify the factors associated with poor hip flexion range of motion (ROM) after THA in patients with AS.
Methods: We retrospectively investigated the mid-term functional outcomes in 313 AS patients (538 hips) who underwent primary THA from 2012 to 2017, with a mean follow-up of 7 years (range, 4-9 years). Postoperative functional outcomes were assessed by hip flexion ROM, Harris hip score (HHS), and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC).

Aims: This study presents clinical outcomes, functional results, and return to sports after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using quadruple hamstring tendon autograft or peroneus longus tendon autograft in a randomized controlled trial.
Patients And Methods: Between February 2018 and July 2019, patients who underwent ACL reconstruction were randomly assigned to two groups: hamstring and peroneus longus. Patient related outcome measurements and pain intensity were evaluated using IKDC, Lysholm, and visual analog scores at 3 and 6 months, 1, 2, and 5 years after the surgery.

Introduction: Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a devastating and severe complication of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The Australian Joint Registry reports an increasing number of debridement, antibiotics, and implant retention (DAIR) procedures, underscoring the need to comprehend outcomes for informed treatment decisions. This study aimed to determine outcome of DAIR procedures, evaluate time since primary TKA, and identify patient-related factors associated with DAIR failure.

Background: Despite increasing attention on health literacy and the inclusion of grade reading level recommendations in guidelines, it remains unclear if lowering the grade reading level of written health information to specific target grades improves patient-related outcomes.
Objective: To assess whether grade reading level of written information affects knowledge, perceived reading ease, acceptability and trustworthiness of information and, to explore whether information written at a lower grade reading level reduces disparities in outcomes across health literacy levels.
Design: We conducted a 4-arm online randomized trial with a community sample of adults living in Australia from 31 July to 20 September 2023.

Background: Splenic flexure mobilization can be technically challenging, and its oncological benefits remain uncertain. This study aims to explore the relationship between patient and clinical characteristics and splenic flexure mobilization time as well as the implications of prolonged splenic flexure mobilization duration.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study includes 105 patients who underwent laparoscopic distal colorectal cancer surgery between 2013 and 2018.
