The immune checkpoint inhibitor, anti-programmed death protein-1 (anti-PD-1), enhances adaptive immunity to kill tumor cells, and the oncolytic virus (OV) triggers innate immunity to clear the infected tumor cells. We create a mathematical model to investigate how the interaction between adaptive and innate immunities under OV and anti-PD-1 affects tumor reduction. For different immunity strength, we create the corresponding virtual baseline patients and cohort patients to decipher the major factors determining the treatment outcome.

Wearable microfluidic sweat sensors could play a major role in the future of monitoring health and wellbeing. Sweat contains biomarkers to monitor health and hydration status, and it can provide information on drug intake, making it an interesting non-invasive alternative to blood. However, sweat is not created in excess, and this requires smart sweat collection strategies to handle small volumes.

Background: A pediatric cancer diagnosis is overwhelming and stressful for the whole family. Patient-centered communication during the diagnostic conversation can support medical and psychosocial adaptation to the disease. Treatment of pediatric leukemia has become increasingly complex and requires a specific skillset from clinicians in effectively conveying information to families.

Objective: To develop a proof-of-concept smart-phone-based eye-tracking algorithm to assess non-pathologic optokinetic (OKN) nystagmus in healthy participants. Current videonystagmography (VNG) is typically restricted to in-office use, and advances in portable vestibular diagnostics would yield immense public health benefits.
Study Design: Prospective cohort study.
