A histological evaluation of peeling-induced skin changes in subcutaneous undermined preauricular facial skin flaps of nine patients was performed. There were three treatment groups: Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) 25%, TCA 40% and phenol/croton oil; one group served as control. Two independent evaluators determined the epidermal and dermal thickness and the depth of necrosis (micrometre). The percentual tissue damage due to the peeling was calculated, and a one-sample t-test for statistical significance was performed. On the basis of the histomorphological changes, peeling depth was classified as superficial, superficial-partial, deep-partial and full thickness chemical burn. The histological results revealed a progression of wound depth for different peeling agents without full thickness necrosis. TCA peels of up to 40% can be safely applied on subcutaneous undermined facial skin flaps without impairing the vascular patency, producing a predictable chemical burn, whereas deep peels such as phenol/croton oil peels should not be applied on subcutaneous undermined skin so as to not produce skin slough or necrosis by impairing vascular patency.

Objective: The infrabrow blepharoplasty is a common surgical operation indicated in Asians for periorbital rejuvenation. This operation alone is difficult to achieve the correction of crow's feet. Deficit of oxygen and nutrients in the tumor microenvironment (TME) triggers abnormal angiogenesis that produces dysfunctional and leaky blood vessels, which fail to adequately perfuse tumor tissues. Resulting hypoxia, exacerbation of metabolic disturbances, and generation of an immunosuppressive TME undermine the efficacy of anticancer therapies. Use of carefully scheduled angiogenesis inhibitors has been suggested to overcome these problems and normalize the TME.

Purpose: Subcutaneous seroma formation (SF) is commonly seen after axillary bromhidrosis surgeries and its treatment can be challenging and long. Current prevention methods are not consistent, and the treatment includes repeated aspirations and drains, both are associated with higher risk for infections. The purpose of this article is to present a novel and simple technique of intraoperative hypertonic saline irrigation (IHSI) to axillary bromhidrosis subcutaneous dead space, which prevents postoperative SF and enables early drain removal due to reduced secretions.

The management of colorectal cancer (CRC) poses a significant challenge, necessitating the development of innovative and effective therapeutics. Our research has shown that notoginsenoside Ft1 (Ng-Ft1), a small molecule, markedly inhibits subcutaneous tumor formation in CRC and enhances the proportion of CD8 T cells in tumor-bearing mice, thus restraining tumor growth. Investigation into the mechanism revealed that Ng-Ft1 selectively targets the deubiquitination enzyme USP9X, undermining its role in shielding β-catenin.
