The development of an efficient, high yielding six-step convergent synthesis of the semisynthetic alkaloid (-)-perhydrohistrionicotoxin is described. The key transformations include the cross metathesis of a Brønsted-acid masked primary homoallylic amine with a vinyl cyclohexenone and a regioselective palladium catalyzed hydrogenation. This sequence generated the advanced Winterfeldt spirocyclic precursor in 47% overall yield, with a longest linear sequence of five steps.

Background: Bruton Tyrosine Kinase inhibitor (BTKi) emerged as key treatment for B-cell lymphomas. Despite its efficacy in the treatment of malignancies, numerous cases of invasive fungal infections (IFI) have been reported in patients receiving ibrutinib, a first generation BTKi. Cases of invasive aspergillosis have also been reported with acalabrutinib and zanubrutinib.

The aquatic ecosystem is negatively impacted by organic dye contamination, which is now one of the factors leading to environmental pollution. The present investigation involved the synthesis of nanocellulose (NC) and nanocellulose modified with NiO (NC/NiO) composite using acid hydrolysis and a one-step precipitation technique for NC and NiO, respectively. Malachite green (MG) dye was catalytically removed from an aqueous solution using the two products, which were mechanically homogenized.

It impairs quality of life, even in residents of nursing homes, and, in the community, increases the risk of institutionalisation. Care focused on the preservation of dignity during intimate care is important in the care of older adults.

Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vEDS) is a rare inherited connective tissue disorder predominantly caused by pathogenic COL3A1 variants. Characteristic arterial and intestinal fragility and generalised severe tissue friability can lead to clinical events from childhood. We highlight a paucity of literature regarding children diagnosed with vEDS, possibly explained by a restraint in predictive testing, and present data on 63 individuals (23 index cases) with a clinical and genetic diagnosis of vEDS in childhood (<18 years) to address this.

Background: In a response to the lack of public awareness of dementia, 'ageing in place' and 'dementia-friendly community' policies have been proposed, and a number of relevant studies have been carried out.
Aim: To map the evidence of public help for people with dementia in the community.
Design: A scoping review.
