Context: Cancer is a major health problem in the elderly, and pain is one of the most common symptoms among older patients with cancer. Sufficient pain treatments depend on the accuracy of the pain assessment tool.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the psychometric properties of the Iranian version of the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI-IR) among elderly individuals with cancer.

Methods: This validation study was conducted with 368 people aged 60+ years old who were undergoing oncology treatments. The BPI-IR was applied to the elderly participants through face-to-face interviews. Reliability of the BPI-IR was evaluated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient and intraclass correlation coefficient between test-retest scores. Criterion validity was determined by calculating the Spearman's correlation coefficient between scores on the BPI-IR and those on the SF-36 physical function, Activities of Daily Living, Instrumental Activities of Daily Living, Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression, Patient Pain Questionnaire, and Symptom Distress Scale. Construct validity of the BPI-IR was evaluated using exploratory factor analyses.

Results: Cronbach's alpha coefficient was calculated to be 0.94, and the intraclass correlation coefficient between twice the BPI-IR scores over two weeks obtained was 0.89. There were moderate-to-high correlations between the BPI-IR and the Patient Pain Questionnaire (r = 0.886), Symptom Distress Scale (r = 0.492), SF-36 physical function (r = 0.554), and Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression (r = 0.608). Two factors were extracted in exploratory factor analyses, and they explained 73.86% of total variance.

Conclusion: The BPI-IR is a reliable and valid tool for assessing pain among older adults with cancer.

Purpose: To compare the amplitudes and implicit times of the oscillatory (OPs) of the full-field electroretinograms (ERGs) to those of the 30 Hz flicker ERGs in differentiating eyes with diabetic retinopathy (DR) from normal eyes.

Study Design: Single-center observational study.

Methods: Full-field ERGs were recorded in 55 patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) and 20 normal control subjects.

Off-axis integrated cavity output spectroscopy (OA-ICOS) allows the laser to be reflected multiple times inside the cavity, increasing the effective absorption path length and thus improving sensitivity. However, OA-ICOS systems are affected by various types of noise, and traditional filtering methods offer low processing efficiency and perform limited feature extraction. Deep learning models enable us to extract important features from large-scale, complex spectral data and analyze them efficiently and accurately.

Resilience is an important ability that helps adolescents resist stress from everyday life. While resilience has been measured in many ways, no measures have been developed specifically for the adolescent population. This study analyzed three popular resilience questionnaires, evaluated their psychometric properties using item response theory and explored their applicability.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between knee and ankle strength and horizontal deceleration performance following different sprint distances. Fifty-seven ( = 41male,  = 16 female) youth team-sports athletes completed: a) 5-m and 10-m horizontal deceleration ability (HDA) tests; b) concentric (60°/s, 180°/s) and eccentric (30°/s) relative peak torque (PT) measurements of the knee extensor (KE) and flexor (KF) muscles and the ankle plantarflexion (APF) and dorsiflexion (ADF) muscles in an isokinetic dynamometer. Pearson's correlation coefficients revealed that concentric at 60°/s and eccentric at 30°/s KE were mostly related to deceleration performance both in HDA ( = -0.

Study Design: A cross-sectional analysis of 10,000 cervical spine X-rays.

Objective: This study investigates the variations in C6S and C7S across demographic factors (gender, age, cervical curvature, symptoms) and explores their correlation. Additionally, machine learning models are applied to improve the accuracy of C7S prediction.
