Inflammatory cytokines are fundamental mediators of the organismal response to injury, infection, or other harmful stimuli. To elucidate the early and mostly direct transcriptional signatures of inflammatory cytokines, we profiled all immunologic cell types by RNAseq after systemic exposure to IL1β, IL6, and TNFα. Our results revealed a significant overlap in the responses, with broad divergence between myeloid and lymphoid cells, but with very few cell-type-specific responses.

In , the causative agent of Lyme disease, differential gene expression is primarily governed by the alternative sigma factor RpoS (σ). Understanding the regulation of RpoS is crucial for elucidating how is maintained throughout its enzootic cycle. Our recent studies have shown that the homolog of Fur/PerR repressor/activator BosR functions as an RNA-binding protein that controls the mRNA stability.

Abnormal autophagy regulation is implicated in lupus and other autoimmune diseases. We investigated autophagy in the murine pristane-induced lupus model. Pristane causes monocyte/macrophage-mediated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in lung endothelial cells and diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH) indistinguishable from DAH in lupus patients.

Decades of artificial selection have markedly enhanced egg production efficiency, yet the epigenetic underpinnings, notably DNA methylation dynamics in the gut, remain largely unexplored. Here, we investigate how breeds and developmental stages influence DNA methylation profiles in laying hens, and their potential relationship to laying performance and gut health. We compared two highly selected laying hen strains, Lohmann Brown-Classic (LB) and Lohmann LSL-Classic (LSL), which exhibited similar egg production but divergent physiological, metabolic, and immunological characteristics.

Background: The pathomechanism of blast traumatic brain injury (TBI) and blunt TBI is different. In blast injury, evidence indicates that a single blast exposure can often manifest long-term neurological impairments. However, its pathomechanism is still elusive, and treatments have been symptomatic.
