Cubic and highly porous [Mn(2-methylimidazolate)] (Mn-ZIF-8) was synthesized from [Mn(BH)·3THF]·NaBH under an Ar atmosphere. The structure contains rare Mn-4N tetrahedral geometry and has larger cell parameters, resulting in 20% larger amounts of gas uptake compared with [Zn(2-methylimidazolate)]. A kinetically favored reaction using a reactive metal borohydride precursor is key for the construction of new metal-organic framework systems.

Deficiency or excess of mineral elements in the environment is a primary factor limiting crop yields and nutritional quality. Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) is an important aquatic crop in Asia, but the mechanism for accumulating mineral nutrients and coping with nutrient deficiency/excess is still largely unknown. Here, we identified NnMTP10, a member of the cation diffusion facilitator family, by screening the cDNA library of lotus.

Template-free synthesis of a multilayer manganese oxide/graphene oxide nanoflake-modified carbon felt as an anode material for microbial fuel cells.

A novel multilayer nanoflake structure of manganese oxide/graphene oxide (γ-MnO/GO) was fabricated a simple template-free chemical precipitation method, and the modified carbon felt (CF) electrode with γ-MnO/GO composite was used as an anode material for microbial fuel cells (MFCs). The characterization results revealed that the γ-MnO/GO composite has a novel multilayer nanoflake structure and offers a large specific surface area for bacterial adhesion. The electrochemical analyses demonstrated that the γ-MnO/GO composite exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity and enhanced the electrochemical reaction rate and reduced the electron transfer resistance, consequently facilitating extracellular electron transfer (EET) between the anode and bacteria.

It has been challenging to test how proteins acquire specific metals in cells. The speciation of metalation is thought to depend on the preferences of proteins for different metals competing at intracellular metal-availabilities. This implies mis-metalation may occur if proteins become mis-matched to metal-availabilities in heterologous cells.

Manganese-52 is gaining interest as an isotope for PET imaging due to its desirable decay and chemical properties for radiopharmaceutical development. Somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) is significantly overexpressed by neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and is an important target for nuclear imaging and therapy. As an agonist, [Ga]Ga-DOTATATE has demonstrated significant internalization upon interaction with receptor ligands, whereas [Ga]Ga-DOTA-JR11(as an antagonist) exhibits limited internalization but better pharmacokinetics and increased tumor uptake.
