Introduction: Pruritus ani, or rectal or anal itch, is a common perianal disorder that affects ~5% of the population of the developed world. Treatments for this disorder are somewhat limited and include conservative non-medical perianal hygiene care, and topical medical treatments including topical steroids, antibacterial and antifungal agents, and topical anesthetic/analgesics such as lidocaine or capsaicin; astringents and vasoconstrictors such as ephedrine can also be used.
Methods: The study was IRB approved.

Background: Patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) combined with severe cervical fusion deformity have difficult airways. Awake fiberoptic intubation is the standard treatment for such patients. Alleviating anxiety and discomfort during intubation while maintaining airway patency and adequate ventilation is a major challenge for anesthesiologists.

What Is Known And Objective: Prior to nasotracheal intubation (NTI), topical nasal vasoconstrictors are used to prevent NTI-related epistaxis (NTIRE). Since we learned that there is no significant increase in NTIRE among hypertensive patients undergoing NTI with adequate lubrication but without vasoconstrictors, we initiated this randomized controlled study to assess the necessity of vasoconstrictor use in reducing NTIRE.
Methods: Patients with the American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status Classification 1 and normal coagulation function, planned to undergo maxillofacial surgery with NTI were enrolled.

Introduction: Local anesthetic intranasal packing is used in transnasal surgery to reduce hemodynamic fluctuations. We hypothesized that the long acting local anesthetic levobupivacaine would provide superior hemodynamic stability and postoperative analgesia compared with lidocaine in endoscopic transnasal transsphenoidal (TNTS) surgery.
Materials And Methods: In this prospective, randomized, double-blind trial, 48 patients undergoing TNTS surgery were allocated to the 2 groups to receive preoperative intranasal packing with 15 mL of 1.
