Two new diarylheptanoids, alpinin A (1) and alpinin B (2), together with 18 known diarylheptanoids (3-20), were isolated from the rhizomes of Alpinia officinarum. Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic analysis, including high-resolution mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy, and one- and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Structurally, alpinin A is a new member of the small family of oxa-bridged diarylheptanoids and contains the characteristic 2,6-cis-configured tetrahydropyran motif (C-C oxa bridge). The absolute configuration of alpinin A was confirmed by asymmetric total synthesis of the enantiomer (ent-1), corroborating the assignment of the molecular structure. The absolute configuration of alpinin B was determined on the basis of the analysis of the circular dichroism exciton chirality spectrum. We evaluated the inhibitory activity of all isolated diarylheptanoids against α-synuclein aggregation at 10 μM. Alpinins A and B significantly inhibited α-synuclein aggregation by 66 and 67%, respectively.

Hance has a medicinal history of thousands of years in treating cough, diabetes, and gastrointestinal system diseases, and it is also a medicine food homology (MFH) plant in China. To evaluate the pharmacological activities of polysaccharides from the rhizomes of , polysaccharides were initially obtained by hot-water extraction and the ethanol precipitation method. A homogenous polysaccharide designated as AOP-w was isolated by a DE-52 column.

LC-HRMS/MS analysis facilitated the precise targeting, isolation, and identification of unusual dimeric diarylheptanoids from (). The tandem MS data for (4)-1,7-diphenyl-4-hepten-3-one () revealed fragment ions at / 91, 105, and 117, which are fragmentation patterns specific to diarylheptanoids. In the tandem MS data, peaks with / values ranging from 450 to 600 that exhibited these specific fragment ions were selected and isolated.

Cisplatin is a chemotherapeutic agent known for causing severe peripheral neuropathy as a side effect, impacting patients' quality of life by damaging nerve tissues. This study aims to explore the neuroprotective effects of the ethanolic extract of Roscoe rhizome (EEACR) and stigmasterol identified by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) in a rat model of cisplatin-induced neuropathy. Male Wistar rats were divided into control, cisplatin-induced neuropathic, and two intervention groups receiving different concentrations of EEACR (250 and 500 mg/kg).
