Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a rare and progressive disorder. Current treatment in the pediatric population includes phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors (PDE-5i), endothelin receptor antagonists (ERA), and both inhaled and intravenous prostacyclin pathway agonists. As of December 22, 2015 the first oral prostacyclin pathway agonist, selexipag (Uptravi), was FDA approved in the US. In this case series, we discuss our single-center experience using selexipag in a pediatric population, composed of both patients with idiopathic PAH, and patients with congenital heart disease and PAH.

FDA Approval Summary: Tovorafenib for Relapsed or Refractory BRAF-altered Pediatric Low-Grade Glioma.

Clin Cancer Res

January 2025

United States Food and Drug Administration, Silver Spring, Maryland, United States.

On April 23, 2024, FDA granted accelerated approval to tovorafenib, a type II RAF kinase inhibitor, for the treatment of patients 6 months of age and older with relapsed or refractory pediatric low-grade glioma (pLGG) harboring a BRAF fusion or rearrangement, or BRAF V600 mutation. Efficacy was evaluated in FIREFLY-1 (NCT04775485), a single-arm, open-label, multicenter trial that enrolled patients 6 months to 25 years of age with relapsed or refractory pLGG with an activating BRAF alteration who had received prior systemic therapy. The major efficacy outcome measure was radiologic overall response rate (ORR), defined as the proportion of patients with complete response, partial response, or minor response as determined by blinded independent central review using Response Assessment in Pediatric Neuro-Oncology (RAPNO) criteria.

Importance: Adolescent and young adult (AYA) patients with advanced cancer often die in hospital settings. Data characterizing the degree to which this pattern of care is concordant with patient goals are sparse.

Objective: To evaluate the extent of concordance between the preferred and actual location of death among AYA patients with cancer.

Background: Obesity and metabolic syndrome (MS) accelerate arterial stiffening, increasing cardiovascular (CV) risk after transplant. BMI is limited by inability to differentiate muscle, fat mass, and fat distribution patterns. The aim of this study was to identify the best anthropometric measure to detect arterial stiffness as assessed by pulse wave velocity (PWV) in a racially diverse pediatric transplant population.

Introduction: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common sleep-related breathing disorder among children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This study aims to determine the prevalence of OSA in children with ADHD, compare the differences in clinical characteristics between children with ADHD-OSA and those without OSA (ADHD-nonOSA), and to identify the correlation between OSA and ADHD in children.

Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 524 children with ADHD, aged 6-12 years, at the Vietnam National Children's Hospital from October 2022 to September 2023.
