A LabVIEW-based software for the control of the fully automated multi-sequential flow injection analysis Lab-on-Valve (MSFIA-LOV) platform AutoRAD performing radiochemical analysis is described. The analytical platform interfaces an Arduino-based device triggering multiple detectors providing a flexible and fit for purpose choice of detection systems. The different analytical devices are interfaced to the PC running LabVIEWVI software using USB and RS232 interfaces, both for sending commands and receiving confirmation or error responses. The AUTORAD platform has been successfully applied for the chemical separation and determination of Sr, an important fission product pertinent to nuclear waste.

Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) was introduced in 2005 as a promising, tracer-based medical imaging modality with the potential for high sensitivity and spatial resolution. Since then, numerous preclinical devices have been built but only a few human-scale devices, none of which targeted functional neuroimaging. In this work, we probe the challenges of scaling the technology to meet the needs of human functional neuroimaging with sufficient sensitivity for detecting the hemodynamic changes following brain activation with a spatio-temporal resolution comparable to current functional magnetic resonance imaging approaches.

We developed the LabVIEW-based virtual instruments (VIs) to bridge a gap in commercial software and to enable systematic peak-overlapping studies to recognise the concentration levels enabling reliable simultaneous determination of major and minor constituents in samples with wide concentration proportions. The VIs were applied to a case study of the ion chromatographic determination of potassium as minor and sodium as a major ion with an IonPac CS12A column and 50 μL injection loop. Two successive studies based on multilevel two-factorial response surface experimental designs, (1) a model peak-overlapping study based on single-ion injections, and (2) an accuracy and precision study, provided guidelines for real sample analyses.

High-frequency field nutrient analyzers offer a promising technology to solve time-consuming and laborious sampling problems in dynamic and complex river-estuarine-coastal ecosystems. However, few studies on the simultaneous underway analysis of five key nutrients (ammonium, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, and silicate) in seawaters are available because of the limitations of the technique. In this study, a state-of-the-art autonomous portable analyzer for the shipboard analysis of nutrients in the environment of varied salinities and concentration ranges was reported.

Purpose: To examine and compare the efficacy of in vitro growth inhibition using rose bengal and riboflavin photodynamic antimicrobial therapy (PDAT) for Nocardia keratitis isolates.
Methods: Nocardia asteroides complex, Nocardia amikacinitolerans, and Nocardia farcinica species were isolated from patients with confirmed Nocardia keratitis. Isolates were tested against three experimental groups: (1) no photosensitizer/no irradiation, (2) photosensitizer/no irradiation, and (3) photosensitizer/irradiation.

Background: Periodic quality control (QC) procedures are important in order to guarantee the image quality of radiological equipment and are also conducted using phantoms simulating human body.
Objective: To perform (QC) measurements in intraoral imaging devices, a new and simple phantom was manufactured. Besides, to simplify QC procedures, computerized LabView-based software has been devised, enabling determination of image quantitative parameters in real time or during post processing.
