Nuclear protein in testis (NUT) midline carcinoma (NMC) is a rare, aggressive, lethal, epithelioid, poorly differentiated cancer first described in Japan in 1991, unique in that is defined genetically rather than by histological tissue of origin. It usually arises in the body midline and presents as a mass with metastasis. An infant presenting with pneumonia was found to have a pericardial mass, NMC resected, and subsequent staging positron emission tomography (PET) showing residual mediastinal tumor and midline abdominal metastases. Fewer than 100 cases of NMC have been reported in the literature, and PET appears to be the imaging modality of choice in complete staging and evaluation of treatment response.

As the catalytic subunit of the Elongator complex, Elongator protein 3 (Elp3) plays a crucial role in multiple physiological processes, including growth, development and immune responses. Previous studies on Elp3 have focused on Caenorhabditis elegans, Drosophila melanogaster, Homo sapiens (human) or Mus musculus (mouse), whereas there are few reports on Elp3 in agricultural pests. Here, the role of TcElp3 in reproduction in the red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum, was investigated, and the underlying mechanisms were explored.

Germline variants of FLI1, essential for megakaryopoiesis, are linked to bleeding disorders, platelet aggregation defects and mild thrombocytopenia. However, the mechanisms behind these abnormalities remain unclear. This study aims to elucidate the impact of FLI1 variants on human megakaryocytes and platelets.

Lysosomes are the major cellular organelles responsible for nutrient recycling and degradation of cellular material. Maintenance of lysosomal integrity is essential for cellular homeostasis and lysosomal membrane permeabilization (LMP) sensitizes toward cell death. Damaged lysosomes are repaired or degraded via lysophagy, during which glycans, exposed on ruptured lysosomal membranes, are recognized by galectins leading to K48- and K63-linked poly-ubiquitination (poly-Ub) of lysosomal proteins followed by recruitment of the macroautophagic/autophagic machinery and degradation.

This study aims to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) by increasing the amount of protein immobilized on the surface of the magnetic bead (MB). Proteins are macromolecules with three-dimensional structures, and merely increasing the density of functional groups on the two-dimensional surface of the MB cannot significantly enhance protein immobilization. Therefore, we grafted spatially extended functional polymer to not only increase the density of functional groups on the MB surface but also expand their distribution in three-dimensional space, ultimately increasing protein immobilization.

Endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) is a cellular reprogramming mechanism by which endothelial cells acquire a mesenchymal phenotype. Endothelial cell dysfunction is the initiating factor of atherosclerosis (AS). Increasing evidence suggests that EndMT contributes to the occurrence and progression of atherosclerotic lesions and plaque instability.
