Background: Research demonstrates that Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) improves clinical outcomes for patients. Improving clinician satisfaction with POCUS should promote utilization into everyday practice, leading to improved clinical outcomes. Despite this benefit, there are still barriers to use including POCUS workflow.

Multilevel intervention for follow-up of abnormal FIT in the safety-net: IMProving Adherence to Colonoscopy through Teams and Technology (IMPACTT).

Contemp Clin Trials

January 2025

Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of California San Francisco, San Francisco, California, USA; Center for Vulnerable Populations, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, University of California San Francisco, San Francisco, California, USA; School of Medicine, University of California San Francisco, San Francisco, California, USA. Electronic address:

Background: Fecal immunochemical testing (FIT) is a widely used first step for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. Abnormal FIT results require a colonoscopy for screening completion and CRC diagnosis, but the rate of timely colonoscopy is low, especially among patients in safety-net settings. Multi-level factors at the clinic- and patient-levels influence colonoscopy completion after an abnormal FIT.

The impact of genetic counselor involvement in genetic and genomic test order review: A scoping review.

Genet Med

January 2025

Department of Medical Genetics, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada; BC Children's Hospital Research Institute, Vancouver, BC, Canada; Women's Health Research Institute, Vancouver, BC, Canada. Electronic address:

Purpose: The increasing complexity of genetic technologies paired with more genetic tests being ordered by nongenetic healthcare providers, has resulted in an increase in the number of inappropriately ordered tests. Genetic counselors (GCs) are ideally suited to assess the appropriateness of a genetic test.

Methods: We performed a scoping review of GC involvement in utilization management initiatives in order to describe the impact of having GCs involved in this process.

Solu: a cloud platform for real-time genomic pathogen surveillance.

BMC Bioinformatics

January 2025

Solu Healthcare Oy, Kalevankatu 31 A 13, 00100, Helsinki, Finland.

Background: Genomic surveillance is extensively used for tracking public health outbreaks and healthcare-associated pathogens. Despite advancements in bioinformatics pipelines, there are still significant challenges in terms of infrastructure, expertise, and security when it comes to continuous surveillance. The existing pipelines often require the user to set up and manage their own infrastructure and are not designed for continuous surveillance that demands integration of new and regularly generated sequencing data with previous analyses.
