The phonon inverse Faraday effect describes the emergence of a dc magnetization due to circularly polarized phonons. In this work we present a microscopic formalism for the phonon inverse Faraday effect. The formalism is based on time-dependent second order perturbation theory and electron phonon coupling.

We recently demonstrated polarisation differential phase contrast microscopy () as a robust, low-cost single-shot implementation of (semi)quantitative phase imaging based on differential phase microscopy. utilises a polarisation-sensitive camera to simultaneously acquire four obliquely transilluminated images from which phase images mapping spatial variation of optical path difference can be calculated. microscopy can be implemented on existing or bespoke microscopes and can utilise radiation at a wide range of visible to near infrared wavelengths and so is straightforward to integrate with fluorescence microscopy.

The use of eggshells as a primary source for developing value-added materials has garnered significant attention in recent years due to their effectiveness as an excellent adsorbent and support. In this study, the Solid-State Dispersion (SSD) method was utilized to prepare composite photocatalysts of eggshells (ES)/TiO₂ in various ratios. TiO₂ and eggshell photocatalysts were also employed as control samples.

Our findings indicate that steeper sidewall mesas can reduce non-radiative recombination and leakage current, which is beneficial for achieving high internal quantum efficiency (IQE). However, as the sidewall angle increases, the light output from the micro-LED tends to concentrate in the internal region, leading to a decrease in light extraction efficiency (LEE).

Highly magnified electron shadow images from SiN thin films are utilized to visualize the distortions induced by spherical aberrations. Our simulations of electron-light interactions indicate that spherical aberrations can be compensated resulting in an aberration-free angle of 8.
