Convenient solution-phase syntheses of tetrahalodiboranes(4) BF, BCl and BI are presented herein from common precursor BBr. In addition, the dimethylsulfide adducts BCl(SMe) and BBr(SMe) are conveniently prepared in one-step gram and multigram scale syntheses from the commercially-available starting material B(NMe). The results provide simple access to the full range of tetrahalodiboranes(4) for the exploration of their untapped synthetic potential.

We report the synthesis of N-capped peptides under mild conditions using the oxidative aminocarbonylation of aryl iodides and peptide esters as nucleophiles in the solution phase. Ex situ chloroform in chamber A generates CO, which diffuses to chamber B, which contains other reactants. This method offers N-capped peptides at 80 °C for 12 h.

An enantioselective oxypalladation/malononitrile addition cascade reaction of alkyne-tethered malononitriles was reported to synthesize enaminones bearing an all-carbon quaternary center. Using Pd(TFA)/Pyox as a precatalyst, an array of enaminone products were obtained in moderate overall yields, with excellent er (93.5:6.

A pyrrole-fused analogue of warped nanographene, designated as deca-nitrogen doped 'WNG' (azaWNG), was synthesized through the annular fusion of decapyrroylcorannulene. The resulting azaWNG exhibited extremely limited solubility in common organic solvents and was characterized solely by mass spectrometry. Theoretical calculations revealed that azaWNG has a sunflower-like molecular structure with electron-deficient corannulene as the core and electron-rich pyrrole as the petals, demonstrating a significantly narrower energy gap compared to all-carbon WNG.

Nanozymes, constituting of inorganic nanomaterials, are the sustainable and cost-effective alternatives of the naturally abundant enzymes. For more than a decade, nanozymes have shown astonishingly enhanced enzymatic activity as compared to its naturally occurring counterpart and emerged as a potential platform in biomedical science. The current study reports a novel flower shaped gold-iron oxide nanocomposite prepared via a facile and green solution phase redox mediated synthesis.
