The Replicability Crisis and Human Agency in the Neo-Structured World.

Integr Psychol Behav Sci

January 2025

Department of Psychology, St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg, Russian Federation.

The paper analyzes current discussions concerning the so called "replicability crisis" - a notion describing difficulties in attempts to confirm existing research findings by their additional scrutiny or by new empirical studies. We propose interpretation that this "crisis" may be seen as a manifestation of the increasing inconsistency between, on the one hand, the outdated views on a human being and social structures dominating in the academic mainstream across various disciplines, including psychology and sociology, and, on the other hand, the reality of the emerging new stage of societal evolution, neo-structuration, which brings to the forefront individual agency. Our analysis suggests the possibilities for the future inter-disciplinary paradigmatic shift, which implies putting in the center of research not the idea of a constant or predictably developing individual in the context of solid external structures operating in line with a presumably sustainable "progress".

This study introduces an innovative approach to enhancing recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) by incorporating nanosilica (NS) and natural fibers (NF), specifically sisal fiber (SF) and palm fiber (PF). This novel combination aims to overcome the inherent limitations of RAC, such as reduced strength and durability, while promoting sustainability in construction. The research focuses on evaluating the mechanical properties of RAC, including compressive and flexural strengths, through the integration of NS and NF.

Recycling waste glass (WG) can be time-consuming, costly, and impractical. However, its incorporation into concrete significantly reduces environmental impact and carbon emissions. This paper introduces machine learning (ML) to civil engineering to optimise WG utilisation in concrete, supporting sustainability objectives.

With the continuous exploitation of global mineral resources, backfill technology for gob areas has become a crucial aspect of mine safety and sustainable development. As a primary method of gob area backfill, slurry backfill directly relates its flow properties and filling height to the efficiency and safety of mine extraction. To enhance the flow properties of the slurry and increase its filling height, a research study on the flow and deposition characteristics of a gas-containing filling slurry was conducted using a combination of theoretical analysis, laboratory experiments, and field tests.

Optimal allocation and application of water resources based on real water saving in a region with intensive human activity.

J Environ Manage

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Simulation and Regulation of Water Cycle in River Basin, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, Beijing, 100038, PR China. Electronic address:

As water demand continues to grow, water resource management that only restricts water withdrawal can no longer ensure sustainable water use, especially in region with intensive human activities. In the water cycle of precipitation, runoff and evapotranspiration at the basin scale, only water evapotranspiration is the actual consumption of water. Water resource management that aims to control the total consumption within a basin is referred to as "real water saving," which can prevent the depletion of water resources.
