A long run of PVCs "sandwiched" in between the sinus beats resulting in an almost doubling of the heart rate-interpolated PVCs in bigeminy-is described. This case illustrates three interesting aspects of interpolated PVCs. Although they are not uncommon, long runs of interpolated PVCs in bigeminy are rare findings. In this case, the arrhythmia had a duration of 3 minutes. Second, it illustrates the "age-old wisdom" of partial retrograde conduction. Also, even though the arrhythmia resulted in an almost doubling of the heart rate, the patient remained asymptomatic.

Background: Preschool children who received sevoflurane anaesthesia were associated with a high incidence of emergence agitation (EA). Studies have shown that a subanaesthetic dose of propofol (1 mg/kg) at the end of inhalational anaesthesia could reduce EA in paediatric patients, but the optimal administrations are still under investigation.
Methods: In a double-blind trial, 160 preschool children (ASA I or II, 2-5 years old) undergoing day surgery of laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair with sevoflurane anaesthesia were randomly assigned into four groups: the control group, single bolus 3 min before the end of the surgery (bolus A), single bolus at the end of the surgery (bolus B) and continuous infusion for 3 min at the end of the surgery (continuous infusion).

The lipidome, encompassing the comprehensive lipid fingerprint of a biological system, includes thousands of unique isomeric and isobaric lipid species. Mass spectrometry (MS) is an effective technique for characterizing the lipidome, although the resolution of isomeric lipid species through MS typically requires specialized or modified equipment. In this study, we introduce a novel matrix derivatization technique that leverages the unique photoreactive properties of unsaturated lipids to reveal the double-bond location in conventional matrix-assisted laser desorption-ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS) experiments.
