The properties of synthesized diblock poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)-poly((3-acrylamidopropyl)trimethylammonium chloride) and triblock methoxy-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)-poly((3-acrylamidopropyl)trimethylammonium chloride) cationic copolymers at the silica/aqueous interface are investigated using quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Moreover, dynamic light scattering is employed to assess the copolymers in terms of the hydrodynamic size and interchain aggregation. Although viscoelastic Voigt modeling of the QCM-D data suggests a comparable layer thickness for the copolymers on the silica surface, the AFM imaging and colloidal probe measurements reveal significant differences in surface coverage and thickness of the layers, which are discussed and compared with respect to the stabilization effect by the hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) block.

Biofilms are a well-known multifactorial virulence factor with a pivotal role in chronic bacterial infections. Their pathogenicity is determined by the combination of strain-specific mechanisms of virulence and the biofilm extracellular matrix (ECM) protecting the bacteria from the host immune defense and the action of antibacterials. The successful antibiofilm agents should combine antibacterial activity and good biocompatibility with the capacity to penetrate through the ECM.

Invasive fungal infections cause over 3.7 million deaths worldwide annually, underscoring the critical need for new antifungal agents. Developing selective antifungal agents is challenging due to the shared eukaryotic nature of both fungal and mammalian cells.

Combinational therapy to treat triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) by concomitantly influencing different cellular pathways has attracted attention recently. In the present study, co-delivery of dasatinib and miR30a by means of CRGDK-targeted lipopolyplexes was conducted to enhance the inhibition of cell proliferation and migration. For this purpose, we condensed the cationic copolymer poly(1-vinylimidazole--2-aminoethyl methacrylate) with miR-30a to form polyplexes.

A non-mulitmacrocyclic ion pair receptor with the ability to cooperatively bind lithium cations and halide anions is presented. These receptors feature a squaramide function for anion binding and are directly linked to a benzo-4-crown-12 unit to achieve selectivity toward lithium salts. Ion pair receptors and demonstrated stronger anion binding in the presence of cobound cations, while anion receptor lacks this property.

Insulin therapy is essential for regulating blood sugar levels. Conventional subcutaneous injection is prone to psychological stress, local tissue damage and severe blood glucose fluctuations, and thus the development of oral insulin technology has become an alternative therapy. However, oral insulin faces challenges such as difficult absorption, poor adhesion, low bioavailability, and short duration of action, due to the large molecular weight, low permeability, and easily degradable by enzymes and gastric acids.
