The title organoselenium compound, CHClOSe {systematic name: 2-[(4-chloro-phen-yl)selan-yl]-2,3,4,5,6-naphtho-[1,2-]pyran-5,6-dione}, has the substituted 2-pyranyl ring in a half-chair conformation with the methyl-ene-C atom bound to the methine-C atom being the flap atom. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic regions of the mol-ecule is 9.96 (9)° and indicates a step-like conformation. An intra-molecular Se⋯O inter-action of 2.8122 (13) Å is noted. In the crystal, π-π contacts between naphthyl rings [inter-centroid distance = 3.7213 (12) Å] and between naphthyl and chloro-benzene rings [inter-centroid distance = 3.7715 (13) Å], along with C-Cl⋯π(chloro-benzene) contacts, lead to supra-molecular layers parallel to the plane, which are connected into a three-dimensional architecture methyl-ene-C-H⋯O(carbon-yl) inter-actions. The contributions of these and other weak contacts to the Hirshfeld surface is described.

Recent genome mining work revealed that unexplored habitats exhibit great potential for discovering new nonribosomal peptides (NRPs) and ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides (RiPPs). Lanthipeptides are a group of RiPPs exhibiting a variety of biological functions. They are characterized by the presence of the thioether-containing bis-amino acids lanthionine and/or methyllanthionine.

In this work, we synthesized Cu-EAB catalysts with an EAB topology for the NH-SCR of NO and evaluated their resistance to SO poisoning for the first time. The Cu-EAB catalyst showed superior NO conversion and selectivity for N, along with a notable tolerance to high space velocities and SO, outperforming the commercial Cu-CHA catalyst. This enhanced resistance was attributed to the Cu species formation at the 2.

Background: Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) is characterized by pulmonary vascular remodelling, often associated with disruption of BMPR2/Smad1/5 and BMPR2/PPAR-γ signalling pathways that ultimately lead to right ventricle failure. Disruption of intercellular junctions and communication and a pro-angiogenic environment are also characteristic features of PAH. Although, current therapies improve pulmonary vascular tone, they fail to tackle other key pathological features that could prevent disease progression.

Critiques from queer theory have suggested that the legalization of same-sex marriage (SSM) predominantly benefits White, middle-class segments of the lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) community. This study investigates the impact of the legalization of SSM on mental health among Black LGB individuals, focusing on those with lower incomes in the UK. Using a nationally representative panel sample and employing a quasi-experimental methodology, we analyzed changes in psychological distress and life dissatisfaction following the legalization of SSM.

Background: Since the first description of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) as clinicopathologic syndrome three decades ago, considerable progress has been made to standardize and validate instruments to assess symptom severity, quality of life, endoscopic, and histologic activity for the purpose of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and observational studies. Standardized assessment of EoE activity is crucial to be able to compare the results of therapeutic interventions and bring much needed therapies to patients. This review focuses on outcome assessment of disease activity in adults with EoE.
