Background And Objective: In a security ward we assessed the diagnostic contribution of single photon scintigraphy [SPECT] in our diagnostic pathway for patients with serious mental disease and a history of violence.

Methods: Twenty patients were examined between 2012 and 2015 and the findings compared to those in nine patients with the same diagnosis, but no history of violence.

Results: All violent patients had areas with reduced accumulation of 99mTc-HMPAO frontally and in the temporal lobe, in the non-violent group only two patients demonstrated these findings.

Conclusion: Traditionally, low accumulation of the tracer in SPECT is related to reduced perfusion of brain tissue. We discuss our findings in the light of other possible pathophysiological mechanisms.

Many lipid biomarkers of stroke have been identified, but the lipid metabolism in elderly patients with leukoaraiosis remains poorly understood. This study aims to explore lipid metabolic processes in stroke among leukoaraiosis patients, which could provide valuable insights for guiding future antithrombotic therapy. In a cohort of 215 individuals undergoing MRI, 13 stroke patients were matched with controls, and 48 stroke patients with leukoaraiosis were matched with 40 leukoaraiosis patients.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most prevalent secondary sarcoma associated with retinoblastoma (RB). However, the molecular mechanisms driving the interactions between these two diseases remain incompletely understood. This study aims to explore the transcriptomic commonalities and molecular pathways shared by RB and OS, and to identify biomarkers that predict OS prognosis effectively.

Resolvin D1 (RvD1) is an endogenous anti-inflammatory mediator that modulates the inflammatory response and promotes inflammation resolution. RvD1 has demonstrated neuroprotective effects in various central nervous system contexts; however, its role in the pathophysiological processes of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and the potential protective mechanisms when combined with exercise rehabilitation remain unclear. A mouse model of ICH was established using collagenase, and treatment with RvD1 combined with three weeks of exercise rehabilitation significantly improved neurological deficits, muscle strength, learning, and memory in ICH mice while reducing anxiety-like behavior.

Cannabis use disorder affects up to 42% of individuals with schizophrenia, correlating with earlier onset, increased positive symptoms, and more frequent hospitalizations. This study employed an untargeted lipidomics approach to identify biomarkers in plasma samples from subjects with schizophrenia, cannabis use disorder, or both (dual diagnosis), aiming to elucidate the metabolic underpinnings of cannabis abuse and schizophrenia development. The use of liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry enabled the annotation of 119 metabolites, with the highest identification confidence level achieved for 16 compounds.

Aortic dissection (AD) is one of the most dangerous diseases of the cardiovascular system, which is characterized by acute onset and poor prognosis, while the pathogenesis of AD is still unclear and may affect or even delay the diagnosis of AD. Anchorage-dependent cell death (Anoikis) is a special mode of cell death, which is programmed cell death caused by normal cells after detachment from extracellular matrix (ECM) and has been widely studied in the field of oncology in recent years. In this study, we applied bioinformatics analysis, according to the results of research analysis and Gene Ontology (GO), as well as Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), finally found 3 anoikis-related genes (ARGs) based on machine learning.
