Vat dark blue BO-simulated wastewater was treated by dissolved air flotation (DAF). In this process, the interactions of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and resulting DAF process precipitates were investigated by infrared spectroscopy and kinetic methods. Fourier transform infrared analysis revealed that γ values (cm) for asymmetric and symmetric stretching vibrations of CH groups for SDS-treated precipitation shifted toward higher in comparison to pure SDS, showing strong SDS and precipitate interactions. This showed the chemical adsorption of SDS onto precipitate surfaces. Adsorption data were well described by a pseudo-second-order model, with an adsorption activation energy of 42.602 kJ mol, further predicting an SDS chemisorption uptake process by the precipitate. SDS could be considered as one of the most efficient flotation agents for the removal of vat dark blue BO in DAF processing.

Incorporation of polymer chain entanglements within a single network can synergistically improve stiffness and toughness, yet attaining such dense entanglements through vat photopolymerization additive manufacturing [e.g., digital light processing (DLP)] remains elusive.

A recently developed multi-ceramic additive manufacturing process (multi-CAMP) and an appropriate device offer a multi-material approach by vat photopolymerization (VPP) of multi-functionalized ceramic components. However, this process is limited to ceramic powders with a certain translucency for visible light. Electrically conductive ceramic powders are therefore ruled out because of their light-absorbing behavior and dark color.

An 11-month-old female infant presented on the first postoperative (PO) day following an elective pyeloplasty, a dark bluish erythema of her lumbotomy wound, plus a satellite lesion of the same characteristics. Fever and sepsis developed, and despite broad spectrum antibiotics (meropenem and vancomycin) were started, a diagnosis of necrotizing soft-tissue infection (NSTI or necrotizing fasciitis) was established. Surgical debridement of both lesions was performed on day 3 PO, and a surgical contamination (ring retractor blade) was suspected, due to the particular geography of the lesion.

Presence of industrial dyes and heavy metal as a contaminant in environment poses a great risk to human health. In order to develop a potential technology for remediation of dyes (Reactive remazol red, Yellow 3RS, Indanthrene blue and Vat novatic grey) and heavy metal [Cu(II), Ni(II), Cd(II), Zn(II), Cr(VI) and Pb(II)] contamination, present study was performed with entomopathogenic fungi, Beauveria bassiana (MTCC no. 4580).
