Introduction: Interleukin-37 (IL-37) has been proved to be a fundamental natural suppressor of innate immunity and inflammatory responses in autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematous (SLE). The purpose of this study was to assess serum IL-37 level in SLE patients and its correlation with disease activity and clinical and laboratory manifestations of SLE patients.
Patients/methods: The serum level of IL-37 was assessed and analyzed in 100 SLE patients and 50 healthy controls by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Clinical and laboratory manifestations and disease activity using SLE Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI) were also assessed.
Results: IL-37 serum level was significantly higher among SLE patients than controls. It has statistically significant correlation with disease activity, renal and mucocutaneous involvement in SLE patients.
Conclusion: IL-37 level is elevated in SLE patients in comparison to healthy controls and is correlated to high disease activity, mucocutaneous and renal involvement.

Desaturases such as stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) and fatty acid desaturase 2 (FADS2) have been implicated in multiple cancers, and their dominant and compensatory effects have recently been highlighted. However, how tumors initiate and sustain their self-sufficient FA desaturation to maintain phenotypic transition remains elusive.

Quercetin is a natural polyphenolic compound with various biological activities such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor. It was to explore the effect of quercetin on AS ossification and its molecular mechanism.

Recent studies emphasize the importance of vitamins D, B12, C, and K in managing RA and enhancing patient health. Acute liver failure (ALF) is a life-threatening clinical syndrome characterized by high-grade inflammation and multi-organ failure. Our previous study shows that targeting the M2 isoform of pyruvate kinase (PKM2) to inhibit macrophage inflammation may be a promising strategy for ALF treatment. however, the mechanism by which PKM2 regulates the inflammatory response is unclear.
Background: The design of smart, photoactivated nanomaterials for targeted drug delivery systems (DDS) has garnered significant research interest due in part to the ability of light to precisely control drug release in specific cells or tissues with high spatial and temporal resolution. The development of effective light-triggered DDS involves mechanisms including photocleavage, photoisomerization, photopolymerization, photosensitization, photothermal phenomena, and photorearrangement, which permit response to ultraviolet (UV), visible (Vis), and/or Near Infrared (NIR) light. This review explores recent advancements in light-responsive small molecules, polymers, and nanocarriers, detailing their underlying mechanisms and utility for drug delivery and/or imaging.
