Water conservation (WC) is a critical ecological service function in the Yellow River Basin (YRB). There is currently a lack of detailed exploration of WC development processes and the impact mechanisms of driving factors at spatiotemporal scales in the YRB. By collecting data on DEM, land use, soil, meteorology, reservoirs, and observed discharge, this study established a large-scale WC model using the soil and water assessment tool (SWAT).

Objective: This study aimed to assess the effect of titanium dioxide (TiO) and silver (Ag) nanoparticles dispersed in glycerol or water, serving as optical clearing agents nanocolloids (OCAs-NC), for improving optical coherence tomography (OCT) images and highlighting incipient lesions in ex vivo human teeth.

Materials And Methods: Twelve human teeth with incipient lesions were divided into seven groups according to the OCA-NC; they were subjected to G1 (air), G2 (glycerol), G3 (TiO 0.1%), G4 (TiO 0.

Metamaterial properties of Babinet complementary complex structures.

Sci Rep

March 2023

Department of Optics and Quantum Electronics, University of Szeged, Dóm tér 9, Szeged, 6720, Hungary.

Single and multiple layers of sub-wavelength periodic Babinet complementary patterns composed of rounded nano-object miniarrays were investigated. In case of illumination with linearly and circularly polarized light the azimuthal orientation and handedness (in)dependence of (cross-polarized) copolarized transmitted signal components was proven for all types of patterns. Considerable (weak) asymmetric transmission was demonstrated in extended bands exclusively for both types of copolarized (cross-polarized) signals transmitted through single layer of convex miniarrays.

Background: Choosing the appropriate definition of rural area is critical to ensuring health resources are carefully targeted to support the communities needing them most. This study aimed at reviewing various definitions and demonstrating how the application of different rural area definitions implies geographic doctor distribution to inform the development of a more fit-for-purpose rural area definition for health workforce research and policies.

Methods: We reviewed policy documents and literature to identify the rural area definitions in Indonesian health research and policies.

Fuzzy-trace theory predicts that decisionmakers process numerical information about risk at multiple levels in parallel: the simplest level, nominal (categorical some-none) gist, and at more fine-grained levels, involving relative comparison (ordinal less-more gist) and exact quantities (verbatim representations). However, little is known about how individual differences in these numerical representations relate to judgments and decisions, especially involving health tradeoffs and relative risks. To investigate these differences, we administered measures of categorical and ordinal gist representations of number, objective numeracy, and intelligence in two studies (Ns = 978 and 956).
