Published: April 2017

Purpose Of Review: The aim of this study is to present an outline and the principles of Poland's road safety strategic programming as it has developed over the last 25 years since the first Integrated Road Safety System with a strong focus on Sweden's "Vision Zero".

Recent Findings: Countries that have successfully improved road safety have done so by following strategies centred around the idea that people are not infallible and will make mistakes. The human body can only take a limited amount of energy upon impact, so roads, vehicles and road safety programmes must be designed to address this.

Summary: The article gives a summary of Poland's experience of programming preventative measures that have "Vision Zero" as their basis. It evaluates the effectiveness of relevant programmes.

With the increasing incidence of thyroid cancer worldwide and the increasing demand for surgery, the risk of parathyroid injury is also increasing, which will lead to postoperative hypoparathyroidism (HP) and hypocalcemia. In order to improve the quality of life of patients after surgery, there is an urgent need to develop a novel platform that can identify the parathyroid gland immediately during surgery. The parathyroid gland promotes the increase of blood calcium concentration by secreting parathyroid hormone (PTH).

Traffic signals, while reducing conflicts within intersections, often lead to stop-and-go behaviors in approaching vehicles, negatively impacting traffic flow in terms of safety, efficiency, and fuel consumption. Aimed at minimizing the traffic oscillations caused by traffic signals through Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs) and meeting real-time operational needs, this paper proposes a Risk-Based Adaptive Cruise Control (RACC). RACC designs the constraints of approaching a signalized intersection as expected risks, enabling compliance with all constraints while being adaptable to basic road scenarios.

The toxic fume emitted from asphalt pavement remains a health and environmental hazard towards public safety, especially the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Despite extensive studies focused on characterizing asphalt fumes generated during construction stages (i.e.

Electronic address:

Glyphosate is a non-selective herbicide widely used in agriculture, and its overexposure poses significant health and environmental risks. Herein, a novel Cu-coordinated fluorescent sensing system (HYBC-Cu system) based on acylhydrazone groups was designed, capable of glyphosate-specific recognition. The HYBC-Cu system was constructed with simple steps, with the advantages of short recognition time (< 1 min), good specificity, anti-interference, and excellent sensitivity (LOD = 95 nM).
