Aim: To study persistent postural perceptual dizziness (PPPD) in outpatients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and patients with presbiataxia (PAt).

Material And Methods: Eighty-four patients with PPPD, including 14 with Meniere's disease (MD), 19 with BPPV, 17 with a history of ischemic stroke (IS) in the vertebrobasilar system and 34 with Pat, were examined. For the diagnosis of anxiety, the original 15-point questionnaire with the Likert Scale structure was used. Patients received anvifen (aminophenylbutyric acid hydrochloride) in dose of 250 mg 3 times a day for 6 weeks. Results and сonclusion. The most common trigger of PPPD was sleep deprivation. The highest level of anxiety was identified in the PAt group (19,5±2,89). There was a good effect of the drug: it reduced anxiety in all patients studied. The quality of sleep was improved as well. The authors recommend anvifen as the drug of choice in patients with PPPD during vestibular rehabilitation and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Follicular porokeratosis (FPK) is a rare subtype of porokeratosis. Follicular porokeratosis mainly occurs in men and may be localized or diffuse. Involvement of the scalp is rarely reported, and we found only one case of alopecia due to scalp FPK.

Article Synopsis
  • Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) causes recurring episodes of vertigo, and despite initial symptom resolution, many patients experience relapses and other complications such as migraines, neck pain, and falls after discharge.
  • This study observed 124 patients with BPPV and found that 70.97% of them reported new symptoms post-treatment, with prior neck pain, headaches, and migraines being significant predictors for future issues.
  • Key findings highlight that low vitamin D levels may increase recurrence risk, and the relationship between anxiety and persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD) suggests that BPPV is often accompanied by lingering symptoms despite the absence of nystagmus.

Objective: To compare pylorus resecting pancreaticoduodenectomy (PRPD) with classical pancreaticoduodenectomy (classical PD) in terms of short term outcomes.

Background: There is some evidence that Pylorus resecting PD (PRPD) is associated with lesser incidence of DGE when compared to pylorus preserving PD (PPPD). However, no study has previously compared PRPD with classical PD.

The term autoinflammatory keratinization diseases (AIKDs) was recently proposed as a unifying concept for diseases characterized by inflammation in the epidermis and upper dermis which leads to hyperkeratosis, caused by genetic perturbations of the innate immune system. We present a case of a patient with hidradenitis suppurativa and porokeratosis, two AIKDs, followed by a review of these conditions as well as other AIKDs. This case was distinguished by hypertrophic porokeratoses involving cystic hair follicles, showing histopathologic features of both conditions within single biopsy specimens.

Introduction: Persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD) is the most prevalent chronic functional dizziness in the clinic. Unsteadiness, dizziness, or non-spinning vertigo are the main symptoms of PPPD, and they are typically aggravated by upright posture, active or passive movement, and visual stimulation. The pathogenesis of PPPD remains incompletely understood, and it cannot be attributed to any specific anatomical defect within the vestibular system.
