Background And Purpose: Diabetic wounds are serious chronic complications of diabetes and can lead to amputation and death. Although considerable progress has been made in drugs and materials for treating it, it's still an urgent clinical problem as the materials and drugs have potential therapeutic drawbacks, such as low delivery efficiency and poor tissue permeability. To promote diabetic wound healing, a composite of thonningianin A (TA)-loaded chitosan nanoparticles (CNPS) encapsulated by a Pluronic F-127 (PF-127) hydrogel (TA-CNPS-PF) was developed in this study.

Platelets play a critical role in both the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis, and even more so in the ensuing atherothrombotic complications. Low-dose aspirin remains the mainstay of antiplatelet therapy in high-risk patients by reducing the risk of myocardial ischemia, stroke or death due to cardiovascular disease. However, antiplatelet therapies lose their efficacy in people with diabetes mellitus, increasing the risk of future atherothrombotic events.

Department of Veterinary Physiological Sciences and the Zoological Medicine Service, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA.

Three 3-month-old guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) were evaluated for purulent ocular discharge. Conjunctival swabs were obtained for cytologic evaluation of Wright's-Giemsa-stained preparations. The specimen from the most severely affected guinea pig consisted primarily of karyolytic neutrophils and small lymphocytes.
