Background: Intracranial infections, especially multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial meningitis, are one of the most severe complications after craniotomy and may greatly impact patient outcomes.
Case Presentation: We report a case of severe MDR Klebsiella pneumonia meningitis after craniotomy that was treated with three different dosages of tigecycline (Pfizer, New York, NY, U.S.A.)via a combined intravenous (IV) and intracerebroventricular (ICV) administration. Here, we discuss the pharmacokinetics (PK) of a combined IV and ICV tigecycline administration for a patient with an intracranial infection after craniotomy.
Conclusion: In the present case, three different dosages of tigecycline were administered: 49 mg IV plus 1 mg ICV q12 h, 45 mg IV plus 5 mg ICV q12 h, 40 mg IV plus 10 mg ICV q12 h. The combined IV and ICV administration might improve CSF tigecycline concentrations, and in this case, the methods of administration were safe and effective.

Enhanced inflammatory and immune responses have been observed in patients with major depressive disorder, pointing to anti-inflammatory substances as potential seeds for developing novel antidepressants. Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid metabolites, such as resolvin D and E series, maresins, and protectins (collectively known as specialized pro-resolving mediators) demonstrate anti-inflammatory effects. This study examined the antidepressant-like effects of maresin-1 (MaR1) on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced depression-like behaviors in mice.

Both perinatal malnutrition and elevated glucocorticoids are pivotal triggers of the growing global pandemic of metabolic diseases. Here, we studied the effects of metabolic stress responsiveness on glucose-insulin homeostasis and pancreatic-islet function in male Wistar offspring whose mothers underwent protein restriction during lactation. During the first two weeks after delivery, lactating dams were fed a low-protein (4% protein, LP group) or normal-protein diet (22.

Purpose: Chiari malformation type II (CM-II) is a congenital anomaly commonly associated with myelomeningocele (MMC), a severe form of open spina dysraphism. This study aimed to evaluate both supratentorial and infratentorial volumes in MMC infants with and without CM-II.
Methods: We conducted a single-center, retrospective study of 52 MMC infants treated between April 2006 and July 2023.

A measure of lifetime brain atrophy (LBA) obtained from a single magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan could be an attractive candidate to boost statistical power in uncovering novel genetic signals and mechanisms of neurodegeneration. We analysed data from five young and old adult cohorts (MRi-Share, Human Connectome Project, UK Biobank, Generation Scotland Subsample, and Lothian Birth Cohort 1936 [LBC1936]) to test the validity and utility of LBA inferred from cross-sectional MRI data, i.e.
