In order to effectively photodegradate organic pollutants, ZnO composite and Co-B codoped TiO₂ films were successfully deposited on glass substrates via a modified sol-gel method and a controllable dip-coating technique. Combining with UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and photoluminescence spectra (PL) analyses, the multi-modification could not only extend the optical response of TiO₂ to visible light region but also decrease the recombination rate of electron-hole pairs. XRD results revealed that the multi-modified TiO₂ film had an anatase-brookite biphase heterostructure. FE-SEM results indicated that the multi-modified TiO₂ film without cracks was composed of smaller round-like nanoparticles compared to pure TiO₂. BET surface area results showed that the specific surface area of pure TiO₂ and the multi-modified TiO₂ sample was 47.8 and 115.8 m²/g, respectively. By degradation of formaldehyde and oxytetracycline, experimental results showed that the multi-modified TiO₂ film had excellent photodegradation performance under visible light irradiation.

Xenotransplantation of porcine organs has made remarkable progress towards clinical application. A key factor has been the generation of genetically multi-modified source pigs for xenotransplants, protected against immune rejection and coagulation dysregulation. While efficient gene editing tools and multi-cistronic expression cassettes facilitate sophisticated and complex genetic modifications with multiple gene knockouts and protective transgenes, an increasing number of independently segregating genetic units complicates the breeding of the source pigs.

In this study, starch (S) was gelatinized and carbonized to prepare carbonized/gelatinized S (CGS) as the research material. Then, peat extract (Pe) and surfactants with different ratios were single- and multi-modified on CGS, respectively, to prepare Pe-modified CGS (Pe-CGS) and multi-modified CGS, respectively. The microscopic morphology of multi-modified CGS was studied using various testing methods.

Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), particularly in its complex form with poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), stands out as a prominent example of an organic conductor. Renowned for its exceptional conductivity, substantial light transmissibility, water processability, and remarkable flexibility, PEDOT:PSS has earned its reputation as a leading conductive polymer. This study explores the unique effects of two additives, Bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (DGEBA) and Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), on the PSS component of PEDOT:PSS films are shown.

The post-translational modifications of conopeptides are the most complicated modifications to date and are well-known and closely related to the activity of conopeptides. The hydroxylation of proline in conopeptides affects folding, structure, and biological activity, and prolyl 4 hydroxylase has been characterized in . However, the hydroxylation machinery of proline in conopeptides is still unclear.

For many patients with terminal/advanced cardiac failure, heart transplantation is the most effective, durable treatment option, and offers the best prospects for a high quality of life. The number of potentially life-saving donated human organs is far fewer than the population who could benefit from a new heart, resulting in increasing numbers of patients awaiting replacement of their failing heart, high waitlist mortality, and frequent reliance on interim mechanical support for many of those deemed among the best candidates but who are deteriorating as they wait. Currently, mechanical assist devices supporting left ventricular or biventricular heart function are the only alternative to heart transplant that is in clinical use.
