Outcomes and failure patterns after chemoradiotherapy for locally advanced rectal cancer with positive lateral pelvic lymph nodes: a propensity score-matched analysis.

Radiat Oncol

October 2024

Key Laboratory of Carcinogenesis and Translational Research (Ministry of Education/Beijing), Department of Radiation Oncology, Peking University Cancer Hospital and Institute, Beijing, 100142, China.

Purpose: This study aimed to use propensity score matching (PSM) to explore the long-term outcomes and failure patterns in locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) patients with positive versus negative lateral pelvic lymph node (LPLN).

Materials And Methods: Patients with LARC were retrospectively divided into LPLN-positive and LPLN-negative groups. Clinical characteristics were compared between the groups using the chi-square test.

Background: The survival benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy after surgical resection of oligometastases from colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. The prognostic role of circulating-tumor DNA (ctDNA) was reported recently and a risk stratification strategy based on monitoring minimal/molecular residual disease (MRD) has been proposed, however, which drug regimen is most effective for ctDNA-positive patients is unknown.

Methods/design: Oligometastatic CRC patients planning to undergo surgery were registered in this study.

Background: Spinal metastases are a significant complication of advanced cancer. In this study, we assess temporal trends in the incidence and timing of spinal metastases and examine underlying patient demographics and primary cancer associations.

Methods: In this population-based retrospective cohort study, health data from 2007 to 2019 in Ontario, Canada were analyzed ( = 37, 375 patients identified with spine metastases).

Department of Oncology, Copenhagen University Hospital - Herlev and Gentofte, Borgmester Ib Juuls Vej 1, 2730 Herlev, Denmark; Department of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Blegdamsvej 3B, 2200 Copenhagen, Denmark.

Background And Purpose: The SOFT trial is a prospective, multicenter, phase 2 trial investigating magnetic resonance (MR)-guided stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) for abdominal, soft tissue metastases in patients with oligometastatic disease (OMD) (clinicaltrials.gov ID NCT04407897). We present the primary endpoint analysis of 1-year treatment-related toxicity (TRAE).

This article describes the process of multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussion and comprehensive treatment of a case of advanced gastric cancer that tested positive for programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1). During diagnosis, the patient presented with advanced gastric cancer and numerous unresectable metastases in the lesser omental lymph nodes, both lungs, liver, and left parietal occipital lobe. A meeting was arranged for the departments of oncology, gastrointestinal surgery, radiotherapy, imaging, and pathology to discuss the case.
