Background: Carbapenem-resistant (CRE) infections pose a significant global public health threat. We aimed to assess the risk variables, clinical characteristics, and outcomes of CRE-caused infections in criticalcare patients.

Patients And Methods: This prospective study enrolled 181 adult patients infected with in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Rationale: Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) bloodstream infections are a severe complication resulting from granulocyte deficiency following chemotherapy for hematologic malignancies and have a high mortality rate. However, reports of disseminated organ infections secondary to bloodstream infections are rare.

Patient Concerns And Diagnoses: We report 2 cases of patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who both developed CRKP bloodstream infections during the granulocyte deficiency stage following chemotherapy, with 1 case of secondary bacterial liver abscess and 1 case of secondary septic arthritis.

Genes encoding OXA-48-like carbapenem-hydrolyzing enzymes are often located on plasmids and are abundant among carbapenemase-producing (CPE) worldwide. After a large plasmid-mediated outbreak in 2011, routine screening of patients at risk of CPE carriage on admission and every 7 days during hospitalization was implemented in a large hospital in the Netherlands. The objective of this study was to investigate the dynamics of the hospitals' 2011 outbreak-associated plasmid among CPE collected from 2011 to 2021.

Background: Metallo-beta lactamase resistance is one of the carbapenem resistances that worsen the world nowadays. A new variant of carbapenem-resistant has only limited reports from Africa including Ethiopia. This study aimed to determine Metallo -ß- lactamase resistance Gram-negative bacteria in Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Hospital January-June 2023.

This study aims to investigate the risk factors for infection and mortality associated with carbapenem-resistant (CRKP) in hospitalized children, with the goal of providing valuable insights for the prevention and treatment of these bacterial infections. A retrospective case-control study was conducted, including 153 cases of carbapenem-sensitive infection in children and 49 cases of CRKP infection. Among the CRKP cases, 40 children survived and nine died.
