The recent emergence of bile salt hydrolase (BSH) enzyme as a therapeutic target reflects its unbound potential in mitigating hypercholesterolemia, obesity, and gastrointestinal issues. However, to bolster its industrial application, optimization of BSH assay lays the cornerstone for enhancing sensitivity, specificity, and reproducibility. The current study delved into optimizing the BSH assay parameters utilizing response surface methodology (RSM) and one-factor-at-a-time (OFAT) method for two novel, natural BSH producers, Heyndrickxia coagulans ATCC 7050 and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum ATCC 10012.

Given the challenges of overcrowded coastal aquaculture spaces and insufficient production, utilizing saline-alkaline water areas represents a vital strategy to alleviate these bottlenecks. Spotted sea bass (Lateolabrax maculatus), with its formidable osmoregulatory capabilities, is an ideal candidate to develop a saline-alkaline tolerant strain. In our study, genotypic and phenotypic data from 287 L.

Flexible zinc-air batteries (FZABs) present a promising solution for the next generation of power sources in wearable electronics, owing to their high energy density, cost-effectiveness, and safety. However, solid-state electrolytes for FZABs continue to face challenges related to rapid water loss and low ionic conductivity. In this study, a hydrophilic and stable tetramethylguanidine-modified graphene oxide as an additive, which is incorporated into sodium polyacrylate to develop a high-performance gel polymer electrolyte (GPE), is designed.

Background: This in vitro study evaluated the efficacy of professional and home-use fluoride regimens for protecting irradiated enamel, undergoing pH cycling resembling xerostomia.
Methods: Sixty human premolar teeth were irradiated with a total dose of 70 Gy and subsequently sectioned into 3 × 3 cm enamel slabs. These slabs were randomly distributed into five groups (n = 12 per group): professional-use groups received fluoride varnish either weekly (FV1) or biweekly (FV2); home-use groups applied 5000 ppm (FT5) or 1450 ppm (FT) fluoride toothpaste; and a control group (control) received no treatment.
