Nanoframe electrocatalysts have attracted great interest due to their inherently high active surface area per a given mass. Although recent progress has enabled the preparation of single nanoframe structures with a variety of morphologies, more complex nanoframe structures such as a double-layered nanoframe have not yet been realized. Herein, we report a rational synthetic strategy for a structurally robust Ir-based multimetallic double-layered nanoframe (DNF) structure, nanoframe@nanoframe. By leveraging the differing kinetics of dual Ir precursors and dual transition metal (Ni and Cu) precursors, a core-shell-type alloy@alloy structure could be generated in a simple one-step synthesis, which was subsequently transformed into a multimetallic IrNiCu DNF with a rhombic dodecahedral morphology via selective etching. The use of single Ir precursor yielded single nanoframe structures, highlighting the importance of employing dual Ir precursors. In addition, the structure of Ir-based nanocrystals could be further controlled to DNF with octahedral morphology and CuNi@Ir core-shell structures via a simple tuning of experimental factors. The IrNiCu DNF exhibited high electrocatalytic activity for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in acidic media, which is better than Ir/C catalyst. Furthermore, IrNiCu DNF demonstrated excellent durability for OER, which could be attributed to the frame structure that prevents the growth and agglomeration of particles as well as in situ formation of robust rutile IrO phase during prolonged operation.

This study presents a synthesis method for Au tetrahedral nanoframes (Td NFs) through a rationally designed multiple-step process, followed by an investigation of their distinctively ordered self-assembly for enhanced performance in surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). Two distinct Au Td NF building blocks are synthesized, exhibiting mono-rim or dual-rim morphologies. The mono-rim structure lacks intra-nanogaps, whereas the dual-rim configuration features well-defined intra-nanogaps.

The development of Pd-based catalysts with outstanding activity and stability can further promote the hydrogen storage application of formic acid (FA). Regulating the support structure is an effective strategy for enhancing active sites in heterogeneous catalytic systems. This study prepared three types of nanosized ZrO through phase engineering to support Pd metal and investigated the implications of support structure on the microenvironment of active sites, thus revealing the structure-activity relationship of the catalysts.

Damaged skin compromises its ability to effectively prevent the invasion of harmful bacteria into the tissue, leading to bacterial infection of the wound and hindering the healing process. To address this challenge, we have developed a multifunctional asymmetric wound dressing (CuPt-Cur-ABC) that effectively addresses the lack of bactericidal activity and the release of active ingredients in conventional bacterial cellulose (BC), which can be employed to create a barrier of defense between the wound and its surrounding environment. Compared with BC, asymmetric bacterial cellulose (ABC) used starch as a pore-causing agent, forming holes of different sizes at the top and bottom, which enhanced the ability of ABC to load and moderate-release drugs.

Designing and fabricating nanozymes with photoactivity for CO reduction poses a significant challenge. Here, a hierarchically structured ZFs-tpyNi heterojunction nanozyme, comprising a terpyridine-based Ni complex supported on ZrO nanoframes, has been created through an interfacial engineering strategy for efficient CO reduction under visible light. Due to its unique structural and compositional advantages, ZFs-tpyNi demonstrates superior photocatalytic CO-to-CO conversion compared to its counterpart of ZFs and tpyNi, achieving a CO yield of 18.

In this study, we report a strategy for fabricating binary surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates composed of plasmonic Pt@Ag and Pt@Au truncated-octahedral (TOh) dual-rim nanoframes (DNFs) functioning as a "nanoalloy." Pt TOh frameworks act as a scaffold to develop nanoarchitectures with surface decoration using plasmonically active materials (i.e.
