Tregs are believed to be important for maintaining self-tolerance and immune homeostasis. It is well established that Tregs maintain self-tolerance and immune homeostasis by directly suppressing and modulating the effector function of T cells. However, there are a small number of studies that suggest Tregs also directly suppress and modulate B cells. Herein we review the literature that has investigated direct action of Tregs on B cell effector function. This area of study is intriguing because it suggests Tregs may influence long-lived humoral immunity.

Background: Breast cancer is the leading cause of female cancer mortality worldwide, accounting for 1 in 6 cancer deaths. Surgery, radiation, and systemic therapy are the three pillars of breast cancer treatment, with several strategies developed to combine them. The association of preoperative radiotherapy with immunotherapy may improve breast cancer tumor control by exploiting the tumor radio-induced immune priming.

DREB1A, a pivotal transcription factor, has long been known to regulate plant abiotic stress tolerance. However, its role in plant biotic stress tolerance and the underlying mechanisms have remained a mystery. Our research reveals that the maize ZmDREB1A gene is up-regulated in maize seedlings when the plants are infected by Rhizoctonia solani (R.

This mini-review examines the emerging role of the gut microbiome in influencing food allergen cross-reactivity. It specifically focuses on how microbial diversity, antigens, and metabolites impact IgE-mediated allergic responses. Cross-reactivity occurs when structurally similar food and microbial antigens trigger hypersensitivities, affecting millions of people worldwide.

The induction of apoptosis in tumor cells is a common target for the development of anti-tumor therapies; however, these therapies still leave patients at increased risk of disease recurrence. For example, apoptotic tumor cells can promote tumor growth and immune evasion via the secretion of metabolites, apoptotic extracellular vesicles, and induction of pro-tumorigenic macrophages. This paradox of apoptosis induction and the pro-tumorigenic effects of tumor cell apoptosis has begged the question of whether apoptosis is a suitable cancer therapy, and led to further explorations into other immunogenic cell death-based approaches.

Background: Tumor-associated fibrosis modifies the tumor microenvironment (TME), hinders the infiltration and activity of cytotoxic immune cells, and is a critical pathological process leading to the ineffectiveness of tumor immunotherapy in gastric cancer (GC). However, the specific mechanisms and interventions are yet to be fully explored.
Methods: Our study included 375 gastric cancer samples from TCGA, 1 single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) dataset comprising of 15 gastric cancer samples from GEO, 19 cohorts of immunotherapy and 2 GWAS datasets.
