The cyclic scanning electrodeposition method was proposed to convert a thin Ag film into nanocrystals (NCs) with various shapes including nanoflowers, nanorods, dendrites, decahedrons, and icosahedrons. The flower-like Ag NCs exhibit a remarkably enhanced catalytic activity for electro-oxidation of glucose.

The development of sustainable synthetic methods for converting alcohols to amines is of great interest due to their widespread use in pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. In this work, we present an electrochemical approach by using green electrons for the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde using a NiOOH catalyst, followed by its reductive amination to form benzyl--butylamine. The number of Ni monolayer equivalents on the catalyst was found to significantly influence selectivity, with 2 monolayers achieving up to 90% faradaic efficiency (FE) for benzaldehyde in NaOH, while 10 monolayers performed best in a -butylamine solution (pH 11), yielding 100% FE for benzaldehyde.

Of the few weberite-type Na-ion cathodes explored to date, NaFeF exhibits the best performance, with capacities up to 184 mAh/g and energy densities up to 550 Wh/kg reported for this material. However, the development of robust structure-property relationships for this material is complicated by its tendency to form as a mixture of metastable polymorphs, and transform to a lower-energy Na FeF perovskite compound during electrochemical cycling. Our first-principles-guided exploration of Fe-based weberite solid solutions with redox-inactive Mg and Al predicts an enhanced thermodynamic stability of NaMg Fe F as the Mg content is increased, and the = 0.

Thin films fabricated from solution-processed graphene nanosheets are of considerable technological interest for a wide variety of applications, such as transparent conductors, supercapacitors, and memristors. However, very thin printed films tend to have low conductivity compared to thicker ones. In this work, we demonstrate a simple layer-by-layer deposition method which yields thin films of highly-aligned, electrochemically-exfoliated graphene which have low roughness and nanometer-scale thickness control.

Two-dimensional TiC MXene has been successfully synthesized using an ultrafast microwave-assisted method. Material characterization studies have confirmed the formation of a layered MXene structure. Additionally, the electrochemical performance observed for the synthesized material indicates its promising potential for use in supercapacitor applications.

A novel antimonotungstate (AT)-based heterometallic framework {[Er(HO)][Fe(Hpdc)(B-β-SbWO)]}·50HO (, Hpdc = pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid) was obtained through a synergistic strategy of in situ-generated transition-metal-encapsulated polyoxometalate (POM) building units and the substitution reaction. Its structural unit is composed of a tetra-Fe-substituted Krebs-type [Fe(Hpdc)(B-β-SbWO)] subunit and two [Er(HO)] cations. This subunit can be regarded as a product of carboxylic oxygen atoms of Hpdc ligands replacing active water ligands in the [Fe(HO)(B-β-SbWO)] species.
