Fecal samples were collected from 34 clinically healthy cockatiels (), with 15 consuming a commercially available seed diet and 19 on a formulated pelleted diet. Next-generation DNA sequencing was used to analyze the samples, revealing a diverse microbial landscape. A total of 179 bacterial species from 94 genera and 244 fungal species from 156 genera were identified across both diet groups.

This research paper presents the characterization of an enterocin-producing MF5 isolate and the determination of the in vitro antilisterial activity of enterocin produced by this isolate, named Ent-MF5. PCR-based screening for bacteriocin biosynthetic genes revealed that MF5 harbors multiple enterocin-encoding genes ( A, B, P and X), classified as class II bacteriocins and enterocin-P of (sharing up to 99% similarity at the genetic level). MF5 is sensitive to eight clinically important antibiotics and does not possess cytolysin activator -A, gelatinase -E and hyaluronidase -lA virulence genes.

In the current study, a comprehensive analysis of biogenic amines in white brined cheeses was conducted. BAs may accumulate in food in high concentrations via the activities of microorganisms that produce decarboxylation enzymes.
