Investigating the causes and consequences of niche partitioning in populations is a major goal in ecology and evolutionary biology. Previous studies have investigated genetic and environmentally induced variation in resource utility and their ecological implications. However, few studies have explored variability (non-genetic, stochastic variation) as a factor contributing to variation in resource utility.

Plant genebanks contain large numbers of germplasm accessions that likely harbor useful alleles or genes absent in commercial plant breeding programs. Broadening the genetic base of commercial alfalfa germplasm with these valuable genetic variations can be achieved by screening the extensive genetic diversity in germplasm collections and enabling maximal recombination among selected genotypes. In this study, we assessed the genetic diversity and differentiation of germplasm pools selected in northern U.

Novel denovo variants of exome sequences are major cause of pathogenic neurodevelopmental disorders with a dominant genetic mechanism that emphasize their heterogeneity and complex phenotypes. White Sutton syndrome and Gabriele-de-Vries syndrome are congenital neuro-impairments with overlap of severe intellectual disability, microcephaly, convulsions, seizures, delayed development, dysmorphism of faces, retinal diseases, movement disorders and autistic traits. POGZ gene codes for pogo transposable element-derived zinc-finger protein and YY1 gene regulates transcription, chromatin, and RNA-binding proteins that have been associated with White Sutton and Gabriele-de-Vries syndromes, in recent data.

Lettuce () is a globally significant leafy vegetable, valued for both its economic and nutritional contributions. The efficient conservation and use of the lettuce germplasm are crucial for breeding and genetic improvement. This study examined the genetic diversity and population structure of a core collection of the lettuce germplasm using genotyping by sequencing (GBS).

This study describes two siblings from consanguineous parents who exhibit intellectual disability, microcephaly, photosensitivity, bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, numerous freckles, and other clinical features that suggest a potential disruption of the nucleotide excision repair (NER) pathway. Whole exome sequencing (WES) identified a novel homozygous missense variant in the gene, which was predicted to be pathogenic. However, a subsequent peculiar audiometric finding prompted further investigation, revealing a homozygous deletion in the gene linked to neurosensorial hearing loss.
