A new urea functionalised 4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide based fluorescent anion sensor was synthesised in 64% yield over three steps. Fluorescence and H NMR titrations showed that the sensor complexes strongly with acetate and dihydrogen phosphate and to a lesser extent bromide. The corresponding binding stoichiometries were examined using H NMR titrations. Results show that the sensor molecule initially forms 1:1 complexes through hydrogen bonding to the urea moiety, followed by secondary complexation to form higher order host:guest stoichiometries. Specifically, oxyanions complex to the sensor via hydrogen bonding through synergistic aryl C-H and N-H anion interactions in a 1:2 sensor:oxyanion arrangement. Furthermore, 2:1 sensor:oxyanion complexes are formed through an oxyanion linkage between two urea functionalities on different host molecules. This contrasts the majority of previous reports for similar hosts, which indicate 1:1 binding stoichiometry.

Photosensitizers and pigments in raw meat such as porphyrins, riboflavin, and myoglobin after incorporation with light beam prompt the generation of singlet oxygen (O) from triplet oxygen (O) and cause oxidative rancidity of meat products. In this study, the results of photooxidation reactions of sheep erythrocyte (red blood cell) model as a model rich in hemoglobin and phospholipids bilayer, and oleic acid model were obtained by H NMR spectroscopy, TBARS assay, and iodometric titration. In both models, the rate of lipid photooxidation in the presence of hydroalcoholic extracts of Turmeric ( L.

The extent of conformational alteration of the porphyrin macrocycle during the course of protonation was observed, both experimentally and theoretically. For synthesized β-substituted octaphenylporphyrin (OPP) ring systems this macrocyclic distortions have been investigated by spectroscopic and computational analysis. Protonation induced nonplanarity in macrocyclic system is experimentally observed in a single step during spectrophotometric titration.

Helical aromatic oligoamide foldamers bearing anionic side chains that mimic the overall shape and charge surface distribution of DNA were synthesized. Their interactions with chromosomal protein Sac7d, a non-sequence-selective DNA-binder that kinks DNA, were investigated by Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR), Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC), Circular Dichroism spectroscopy (CD), melting curve analysis, Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), as well as by single crystal X-ray crystallography. The foldamers were shown to bind to Sac7d better than a DNA duplex of comparable length.

Expanded applications in human health are hindered by lack of understanding of the mechanism by which Cre selectively binds and recombines its cognate sequences. This knowledge is essential for retargeting the enzyme to new sites and for mitigating effects of off-target recombination.

The CECR2 bromodomain (CECR2-BRD) plays a pivotal role in directing the activity of CECR2 through its capacity to recognize and bind acetylated lysine residues on histone proteins. This study elucidates the binding specificity and structural mechanisms of CECR2-BRD interactions with both histone and non-histone ligands, employing techniques such as isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, and a high-throughput peptide assay.
