Objective: We estimated the 2-year incidence of poor physical performance according to gender roles and examined mediating pathways related to health behaviors and chronic conditions.
Method: Data are from the International Mobility in Aging Study ( n = 1,676). The Bem Sex Role Inventory was used to classify participants into four gender roles as "masculine," "feminine," "androgynous," and "undifferentiated."
Results: We found a higher incidence of poor physical performance among participants endorsing the feminine (adjusted incidence rate ratio [IRR] = 2.36, 95% confidence interval (CI) = [1.55, 3.60]) or the undifferentiated role (adjusted IRR = 2.19, 95% CI = [1.45, 3.30]) compared with the androgynous role. Smoking, physical activity, the number of chronic conditions, high body mass index, and depression were mediators of this association but not alcohol consumption.
Discussion: This study provides evidence that gender roles are independently associated with physical performance. Health behaviors and chronic conditions are mediators of the relationship between gender roles and lower extremity physical function.

Previous studies demonstrated that sensorimotor training enhances interoceptive abilities. Athletes are highly engaged in performance-driven physical training and often incorporate-to varying degrees-sensorimotor training into their routines. In this study, we investigated the role of individual differences in interoception by comparing professional athletes of different performance levels and both sexes with recreational athletes and controls, applying a three-dimensional model of interoception.

Background: Paternal postnatal depression (PPND) is an under-recognized condition that affects new fathers' psychological and emotional well-being, which may impact family dynamics, work performance, and childcare. Despite its significance, there is limited awareness and understanding of its management and implications among midwives, especially in Africa.
Aims: To explore midwives' experiences of managing PPND in Tanzania.

The integration of insulin pumps with continuous glucose monitors (CGM) and smart management software in AID systems has significantly improved glycemic management compared to the separate application of each diabetes technology. The efficacy of AID systems has been demonstrated in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) but it is their application in real-world studies that fully demonstrates their impact for people with T1D.

The main aim of the current study was to compare the effects of two strength training modalities (hypertrophy vs. contrast training) on bone health parameters, physical performance and quality of life in a group of subjects aged 60 and above with low skeletal muscle mass index (SMI). 45 older adults voluntarily participated in this study, but only 41 (22 women and 19 men) completed it.
