Brazil has an increasing production of municipal solid waste that, allied to the current waste management system, makes the search for alternatives of energy recovery essential. Thus, this work aims to study the incineration of municipal solid waste and the electricity production through steam cycles evaluating the influence of municipal solid waste composition. Several scenarios were studied, in which it was assumed that some fractions of municipal solid waste were removed previously. The municipal solid waste generated in Santo André city, São Paulo State, Brazil, was adopted for this study. Simulation results showed that the removal of organic matter and inert components impacts advantageously on the cycle performance, improving their parameters in some cases; in addition, there is the possibility of reusing the separated fractions. The separation of some recyclables, as plastic material, showed disadvantages by the reduction in the electricity generation potential owing to the high calorific value of plastics. Despite the high energy content of them, there are other possible considerations on this subject, because some plastics have a better recovery potential by recycling.

Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy (FURL) and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) in the treatment of ureteral calculi based on decision tree model.
Methods: A total of 600 patients with ureteral calculi, including 289 treated with FURL and 311 cases with ESWL in Anqing Municipal Hospital from June 2021 to August 2023, were selected as study subjects. Perioperative indicators and stone clearance rate of the two groups were compared, and the preoperative and postoperative (24 and 72 hours) changes of serum creatinine, cystatin C (Cys-C) and microalbumin were observed.

The composition of solid waste affects technology choices and policy decisions regarding its management. Analyses of waste composition studies are almost always made on a parameter by parameter basis. Multivariate distance techniques can create wholisitic determinations of similarities and differences and were applied here to enhance a series of waste composition comparisons.

Urbanization and population growth in India have quickened, leading to an annual generation of around 62 million tonnes of municipal solid waste (MSW). Improper management of organic waste presents a major environmental problem due to air and water pollution, soil contamination and greenhouse gas production. This research aims to develop refuse-derived fuel (RDF) as a viable option, converting waste into a high-calorific energy carrier for industrial use.

Decentralized thermal treatment is a common method for municipal solid waste (MSW) disposal in rural areas. However, evaluating the effect of incineration has always been challenging owing to the difficult and time-consuming measurements involved. Herein, this study presented a rapid image recognition method for assessing the effects of thermal treatment on MSW using a neural network algorithm and a BAEVA 1.

Photodynamic therapy holds great potentials in cancer treatment, yet its effectiveness in hypoxic solid tumor is limited by the oxygen-dependence and insufficient oxidative potential of conventional type II reactive oxygen species (ROS). Herein, the study reports a supramolecular photosensitizer, BSA@TPE-BT-SCT NPs, through encapsulating aggregation-enhanced emission photosensitizer by bovine serum albumin (BSA) to significantly enhance ROS, particularly less oxygen-dependent type I ROS for photodynamic immunotherapy. The abundant type I ROS generated by BSA@TPE-BT-SCT NPs induce multiple forms of programmed cell death, including apoptosis, pyroptosis, and ferroptosis.
