The future clinical use of the combination of positron emission tomography (PET) with 2-Fluoro[F-18]-2-Deoxy-d-Glucose (FDG)and MRI is still unclear. If a patient requires a PET and breast DCE-MRI for staging purposes, both scans can be done in the same visit. In the breast, DCE-MRI is better at lesion detection (sensitivity), margin evaluation, and has a higher specificity than CT. The potential for multiparametric qualitative and quantitative imaging is also an advantage of PET/MRI which provides opportunity to improve tumor characterization and may ultimately lead to outcome prediction. This review discusses technical and clinical aspects of this emerging technology in breast cancer patients.

The updated guidelines for diagnosing and treating HER2 positive advanced breast cancer, as presented at the 2021 National Breast Cancer Conference and the Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology, highlight the significance of this approach. A new generation of drug-antibody combinations has emerged, expanding the array of treatment options for HER2 positive advanced breast cancer and significantly improving patient survival rates.

Purpose: Perfusion modeling presents significant opportunities for imaging biomarker development in breast cancer but has historically been held back by the need for data beyond the clinical standard of care (SoC) and uncertainty in the interpretability of results. We aimed to design a perfusion model applicable to breast cancer SoC dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) series with results stable to low temporal resolution imaging, comparable with published results using full-resolution DCE-MRI, and correlative with orthogonal imaging modalities indicative of biophysical markers.
Methods: Subsampled high-temporal-resolution DCE-MRI series were run through our perfusion model and resulting fits were compared for consistency.

Objective: This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of the preoperative dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) findings of mass lesions for predicting sentinel lymph node (SLN) metastasis in early breast cancer.
Methods: A total of 310 patients with suspicious mass lesions detected in preoperative MRI who subsequently underwent surgery and SLN biopsy (SLNB) between September 2015 and September 2022 were analyzed. The relationship between DCE-MRI and DWI findings and SLNB positivity was analyzed.
