Article Abstract

We reviewed the immunophenotypic subtypes of pediatric T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma in the Japanese Pediatric Leukemia/Lymphoma Study Group ALB-NHL03 study. Of the 104 patients, 40 patients each had sufficient data to evaluate the immunophenotypes and early T-cell precursor (ETP) subtype. Pro-T, pre-T, intermediate T, and mature T cells were observed in 1, 9, 21, and 9 cases, respectively. The 3-year event-free survival (EFS) rates of those with pro-T/pre-T, intermediate T, and mature T cells were 80.0±12.6%, 71.4±9.9%, and 88.9±10.5%, respectively (P=0.546). There were 8 and 32 cases of ETP and non-ETP subtypes, with 3-year EFS rates of 75.0±15.3% and 71.9±8.0%, respectively (P=0.828), indicating that the immunophenotypic subtype was not predictive of EFS in this study.

Teleost B cells producing neutralizing antibodies contribute to protection against salmonid alphavirus (SAV) infection, the etiological agent of pancreas disease, thereby reducing mortality and disease severity. Our previous studies show differences in B cell responses between the systemic immune tissues (head kidney (HK) and spleen) and the peritoneal cavity (PerC) after intraperitoneal SAV3 infection in Atlantic salmon () where the response in PerC dominates at the late time points. We present one such case of AML transformed from V617F mutated primary myelofibrosis and review the literature on this topic. The immunophenotype and the landscape of cooperative gene alterations in AML with resemble those of AML with , including expression of CD19, cooperative gene alterations in signaling pathway (), epigenetic/chromatin and cell cycle regulation (, , and ), and additional chromosomal abnormalities (trisomies 8 and 15).

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a hematological neoplasm characterized by the clonal expansion of abnormal lymphoid precursors in bone marrow, which leads to alterations in the processes of cell differentiation and maturation as a consequence of genetic alterations. The integration of conventional methods, such as cytogenetics and immunophenotyping, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) has led to significant improvements at diagnosis and patient stratification; this has also allowed the discovery of several novel molecular entities with specific genetic variants that may drive the processes of leukemogenesis. Nevertheless, the understanding of the process of leukemogenesis remains a challenge since this disease persists as the most frequent cancer in children; it accounts for approximately one-quarter of adult acute leukemias, and the patient management may take into consideration the high intra- and inter-tumor heterogeneity and the relapse risk due to the various molecular events that can occur during clonal evolution.

Endometrial mucinous carcinoma of the gastric [gastrointestinal] type (MCG) is a rare, possibly aggressive subtype of endometrial cancer that should be distinguished from its potential mimics, including endometrioid carcinoma (EEC). Herein, we assess the frequency of gastric and gastrointestinal immunophenotypes in EEC without any discernible gastric/gastrointestinal-type morphology. Immunohistochemical analyses for KRT(CK)7, KRT20, CDX2, ER, SATB2, MUC6, PAX8, and HIK1083 were performed on 81 EEC, inclusive of consecutively archived low grade [with (n = 22) and without (n = 47) mucinous differentiation] and high grade (n = 12) cases.
