Ladder-type conjugated structures with rigid and coplanar molecular frameworks feature longer effective conjugation, affirmative optoelectronic properties and strong intermolecular π-π interactions, which are ideal characteristics for organic photovoltaics. Here, a new "zigzag" angular-fused naphthodifuran (zNDF) based on alkoxyphenyl side chains was designed and synthesized. The distannylated zNDF building block was copolymerized with 4,7-di(5-bromothiophen-2-yl)-5,6-dioctyloxybenzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole and 5,8-bis(5-bromothiophen-2-yl)-2,3-bis(4-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-3-fluorophenyl)-6,7-difloroquinoxaline (Br-BT and Br-ffQx) acceptor units by Stille cross coupling reaction to form two new medium bandgap donor-acceptor polymers PzNDFP-BT and PzNDFP-ffQx, respectively. The photovoltaic properties of the copolymers blended with [6,6]-phenyl-C-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) as an electron acceptor were investigated. A 6.9% efficiency was achieved from the single device based on the PzNDFP-BT : PCBM (1 : 1.5, w/w) blend film with a 0.25% 1,8-diiodooctane (DIO) additive, which is among the highest efficiency for zNDF-based polymer solar cells.

RNA exhibits remarkable capacity as a functional polymer, with broader catalytic and ligand-binding capability than previously thought. Despite this, the low side chain diversity present in nucleic acids (two purines and two pyrimidines) relative to proteins (20+ side chains of varied charge, polarity, and chemical functionality) limits the capacity of functional RNAs to act as environmentally responsive polymers, as is possible for peptide-based receptors and catalysts. Here we show that incorporation of the modified nucleobase 2-thiouridine (2sU) into functional (aptamer and ribozyme) RNAs produces functionally inactivated polymers that can be activated by oxidative treatment.

Hypothesis: Ellipsoidal particles confined at liquid interfaces exhibit complex self-assembly due to quadrupolar capillary interactions, favouring either tip-to-tip or side-to-side configurations. However, predicting and controlling which structure forms remains challenging. We hypothesize that introducing a polymer-based soft shell around the particles will modulate these capillary interactions, providing a means to tune the preferred self-assembly configuration based on particle geometry and shell properties.

In the process of pushing the limits of human performance, competitive sports are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence. In this context, the concept of "momentum" has gained significant attention, as it is widely acknowledged to influence the outcomes of competitions. The question of whether momentum affects sports psychology and the mechanisms underlying its generation and influence merits thorough investigation.

The supervision of novel psychoactive substances (NPSs) is a global problem, and the regulation of NPSs was heavily relied on identifying structural matches in established NPSs databases. However, violators could circumvent legal oversight by altering the side chain structure of recognized NPSs and the existing methods cannot overcome the inaccuracy and lag of supervision. In this study, we propose a scaffold and transformer-based NPS generation and Screening (STNGS) framework to systematically identify and evaluate potential NPSs.
