Purpose Of Review: Genetic testing for mental illness is likely to become increasingly prevalent as the science behind it is refined. This article identifies anticipated ethical challenges for patients, psychiatrists, and genetic counselors and makes recommendations for addressing them.
Recent Findings: Many of the ethical challenges of psychiatric genetic testing are likely to stem from failures to comprehend the nature and implications of test results. Recent studies have identified gaps in the knowledge base of psychiatrists and genetic counselors, which limit their abilities to provide patients with appropriate education. A small number of studies have demonstrated the value of counseling in empowering patients to deal with relevant genetic information. Psychiatrists and other health professionals must be able to assist patients and families in making informed decisions about genetic testing and interpreting test results. Filling their knowledge gaps on these issues will be a critical step towards meeting these responsibilities.

Radiation pneumonitis (RP) is characterized by inflammation and is associated with autophagy. However, the relationship between functional genetic variants of autophagy-related genes and radiation pneumonitis remains unknow. In this study we aimed to investigate whether genetic variants of genes involved in autophagy are associated with radiation pneumonitis.

Pig production is an agricultural sector of great economic and social relevance to Brazil and global markets. Feed efficiency traits directly influence the sustainability of pig production due to the economic impact of feed costs on the production system and the environmental footprint of the industry. Therefore, breeding for improved feed efficiency has been a target of worldwide pig breeding programs.

PGT-A, what's it for? Considering the increase in fetal aneuploidies with a woman's age and the high number of miscarriages associated with fetal karyotype anomalies, the concept of selecting IVF embryos based on their karyotype in order to transfer only euploid embryos and eliminate aneuploid ones was proposed. Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) was then established, nearly 30 years ago, with the expectation that the transfer of euploid embryos would lead to a significant improvement in medically assisted reproduction (MAR) outcomes. PGT-A, what's wrong? Despite the practice and widespread use, PGT-A has not consistently proven its effectiveness.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by motor and nonmotor symptoms, with a significant genetic component. Early-onset Parkinson's disease (EOPD), manifesting before age 45, is often linked to mutations in genes such as PARK2, PINK1, and PARK7, the latter coding for the protein DJ-1.
Objective: We present the first reported cases of EOPD carrying a previously undescribed homozygous PARK7 mutation, p.
