Background And Hypothesis: While maternal schizophrenia is linked to chronic childhood medical conditions, little is known about the risk of acute asthma exacerbations among children whose mothers have schizophrenia. This population-based study used health data for all of Ontario, Canada to evaluate whether having a mother with schizophrenia was associated with increased risk of asthma exacerbations.
Study Design: The study cohort included 385,989 children diagnosed with asthma from age 2 years onward, followed from the time of their asthma diagnosis up to a maximum of age 19 years.

The history of hemophilia is well documented, yet reports focus heavily on the male perspective and severe forms of the disease. Although hemophilia was initially believed to only affect men with women seen as silent carriers, it is now universally acknowledged that women and girls can also be affected. In this narrative review, we tracked the progression of beliefs about women and hemophilia as documented in the literature from pre-1800s to the present time.

The management of these patients regarding the timing of surgery and occurrence of complications remains contentious. Globally, soil contamination threatens ecosystems and food security. This study examines the contamination of soils intended for agri-food initiatives by Indigenous communities across New South Wales and Queensland, Australia, and Newfoundland and subarctic Ontario, Canada. Soils from 47 sites were tested for metals, metalloids, organochlorine (OC) pesticides, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) to assess ecological risks and compare against national guidelines.
