Aim: and spp. are important but neglected zoonotic helminths of dogs. Dogs as the most relevant definitive hosts harbor several species of and simultaneously in their gastrointestinal lumen which are morphologically indistinguishable. In this study, we used a multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method to identify Taeniid infections which seem to be highly distributed in the study region.

Materials And Methods: A total of 450 dog fecal samples were collected from eight different areas of Zanjan province, northwest of Iran, and examined using a flotation method followed by multiplex PCR for detection and identification of parasites' eggs.

Results: Gastrointestinal parasites were found in 86 out of 450 fecal samples (19.1%) by microscopic examination. Taeniid eggs were observed in 5.6% of samples, containing 0.45%, 3.8%, and 1.3% , spp., and mix infection of both and spp., respectively. was absent in the samples.

Conclusion: A relatively low rate of . (1.8%) was observed in this study. However, risks of this parasite should not be overlooked, and control programs need to be extended for this species and other Taeniid spp. In particular, dogs are recommended to be dewormed more frequently.

MiRNAs: main players of cancer drug resistance target ABC transporters.

Chemotherapy remains the cornerstone of cancer treatment; however, its efficacy is frequently compromised by the development of chemoresistance. Multidrug resistance (MDR), characterized by the refractoriness of cancer cells to a wide array of chemotherapeutic agents, presents a significant barrier to achieving successful and sustained cancer remission. One critical factor contributing to this chemoresistance is the overexpression of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters.

Crop, Soil, and Environmental Management Program, School of Agricultural Sciences, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL, 62901, USA.

Article Synopsis
  • Tribenuron-methyl (TBM) is a popular herbicide in Iran for managing broadleaf weeds in wheat due to its low toxicity, effectiveness, and lower cost, but farmers face issues with its performance and resistance.
  • A study involving 240 weed populations from 153 wheat fields revealed that over half (51.7%) exhibited resistance to TBM, with specific species like Sinapis arvensis and Malva neglecta showing significant resistance rates.
  • This research highlights the growing problem of herbicide resistance in Iranian wheat fields and emphasizes the need for future management strategies to prevent yield loss and environmental harm.

Background: Since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, the potential roles of thyroid-inflammatory derangements in driving or being associated with the prognosis of COVID-19 remain controversial. We aimed to clarify the association between COVID-19 infection and thyroid dysfunction, and highlight the impacts of subsequent autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) on the prognosis of COVID-19.

Methods: The retrospective, multicenter, cohort study enrolled 2,339 participants with COVID-19 from three hospitals located in the north, middle, and south regions of Shaan Xi Province, China, between December 2022 and July 2023.
